THE NEIGHBORHOOD_
The Upper East Side is home to many of the wealthiest New Yorkers, as well as Museum Mile and world class shopping. The Upper East Side is a convenient location for Artistic minds that flock to Museum Mile and the myriad galleries, while athletes hit their stride as they jog along the East River or circle the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. Shoppers enjoy the famous Madison Avenue which is home to many couture and designer shops, and even if you can't afford to buy anything, the window shopping is extraordinary. Park Avenue is lined with gorgeous pre-war apartment buildings and the gardening down the median make it a lovely place to stroll. The Upper East Side is also home to many of Manhattan's Luxury Hotels.
The residents are polite and cultured, but down-to-earth and welcoming, too. And though big-name businesses abound abound between 59th and 96th Streets, residents will tell you that the best neighborhood spots are still the independent nooks with genial owners, who make customers feel at home.
It feels very personal, very family-oriented. It's a bit more of classic New York. I happen to like the old historic mansions along beautiful tree lined streets, town houses, post offices and museums. You feel like you're in a mini Europe over here."
