Our comfortable 2 bedroom cottage is called Debsconeag, which is
Abenaki for pond at the waterway. Conveniently located only 12 miles
from downtown Brunswick, it is a world away on Harpswell Neck's
Basin Cove. The cove, a natural calm tidal "hurricane hole", is known
for its peace and tranquility in all weather. Truly a place off the
beaten path, for an affordable, quiet and relaxing vacation.
Relax on the large deck or LL Bean hammock under the shade of 100
year old maple trees. Go kayaking using our 2 kayaks. Take a
refreshing swim at high tide or at low watch the eagles and great
blue herons. Play frisbee with the kids on the large lawn
A summer day at Debsconeag....
Awaken from a wonderful & quiet sleep on pillow top
mattresses. Listen to the birds while you make coffee in the
completely equipped kitchen. Head out for an early morning paddle in
the kayaks. Take a picnic lunch and hike/birdwatch on one of
Harpswell's many ocean front land trust properties. Maybe take an
afternoon swim. For dinner cook your fresh caught lobsters from the
lobster pound a mile down the road adding corn from the nearby
vegetable and gourmet market.
Don't feel like cooking...head down to the Dolphin Chowder House or
up to Brunswick. When evening comes watch the gorgeous sunsets over
the cove from the window lined living room, or relax with satellite tv
and DVR or cosy up with a book!

Or you can gather round the copper liined tile firepit and roast marhmallows, tell stories and watch fro shooting stars!

Harpswell is only 3 hours from Boston, 45 min from
Portland, 20 min from Freeport, 30 min from Boothbay
Cottage is located directly across the samll unpaaved lane from Basin Cove and a small tidal beach.
2 bedrooms: each with queen beds We prefer a max of two cpuples or one couple and two-three children (queen sleeper in living room and queen blow up aero bed provided) Linens are NOT provided, but available at an additional charge. there is 1 bathroom/with separate shower
Large eat-in kitchen, complete with microwave, coffeemaker, waffle
maker, large fridge, elec stove, all good quality dishes and cooking
utensils including an epecially large lobster pot.
The spacious living room and dining area are lined with windows and
overlook the cove. Includes: two couches (one a sleeper), chairs, tv and books. Also stero, cd's, dvd player, games, maps etc.
Extra large lawn and deck, complete with umbrella, picnic table, chairs, huge new gas with burner, hammock, horsehoe pit, croquet, clothes line. Includes
Two LL bean Kayaks with all equipment. Kaykas are kept at beach for easy use.
Extras: portable telescope, Maine Guide books, cookbooks, and maps. Lots of  parking. Fans for cooling and installed gas heat if chilly;  iron & board, vacuum
Renter to provide their own bed linens, bath & beach towels, kitchen
towels etc NOTE: Absolutely no smoking of any kind is allowed inside Debsconeag!!
TO NOTE: This is an older cottage (1930's-40's)with lots of charm but also
a few quirks. You need to walk through one bedroom into the other. 
REMINDER: While Harpswell is so close to civilization, it remains very,
very rural and quiet. There are no large grocery or chain-type stores
in town (only some small convenience and specialty shops.) We highly
recommend stocking up for your stay in nearby Brunswick.

"Debsconeag" is a perfect getaway cottage for you and some friends or
for you and the kids. The cottage is very comfortably furnished and
suitable for children. You'll love the large lawn, deck and very
calm cove salt water with its tidal pebble beach. If you feel like
exploring there are lots of bigger sandy beaches nearby such as
Popham State Beach and cedar BEach or Stover's point only .5 mile away.
The neighborhood is at the end of a small unpaved lane on the cove so
there is virtually no traffic or noise. There is a mix of summer and
year round folks... some retired, some with kids, some with
pets...and everyone is friendly.
For an active vacation the kayaks are ideal...you can shoot the
famous reversing falls right at the end of the cove! The quiet lanes
are perfect for jogging or cycling. Harpswell has many beautiful land
trust properties for day hikes.
If you are a boater, feel free to bring your boat. Plenty of room for
your boat & trailer. There are many well maintained free public
launches within a few miles, or you can rent a mooring or slip down
the road at the Dolphin Marina. A boat is wonderful for exploring the
many islands of Casco Bay.
For cultural activities, Brunswick (only 12 miles) is the home of
Bowdoin College and its summer music and theater festivals as well as
a number of museums, wonderful art galleries, craft shops, great
restaurants and brew pubs.
For serious shoppers...Freeport, LLBean and the outlets are only 20
min away
Lobsters!! Our cottage is only about a mile from the local
lobster co-ops. You can pick out the big guys and buy direct from
the boats at wholesale prices. So low you can have some everyday!
Lastly...enjoy stargazing with our portable telescope. You are far
from the city lights and the stars are amazing!

Rates include all utilities, Direct TV/TIVO dvr. Security Deposit required. Cleaning fee deducted if not left in as is condition! If staying more than a week please inquire about discounts or mid-stay cleaning service.
Linens can be provided for an extra fee. Well-behaved pets will be
considered, pet security deposit required.
