Vacation Rental Description

Rustic A-Frame perched on a high bluff overlooking Lake Pend d’Oreille. 
Secluded within a 180 acre family Tree Farm near Talache.

Vacation Rental Amenities

You can easily find fancier cabins but we challenge you to find a more beautiful setting 
within God's creation. A lovely deck commands one of the best views on Pend d’Oreille. 
There is no phone or TV to disturb your tranquility but a stereo is provided to supplement 
it. Off grid electricity is supplied by hydro electric and solar generation, so there's no 
microwave or A/C.  Idaho summer nights are usually cool, but a fan is provided for the 
occasional warm one. The refrigerator, range, oven, furnace, and on-demand water heater 
all run on propane, and there is a wood stove for cozy winter nights. A double bed in the 
sleeping loft is accessed by a poleladder that requires a degree of agility but the two 
couches downstairs have been used for sleeping in a pinch. The small size of this 16x24 
cabin and the limited privacy of its restroom facilities makes it most appropriate for 
married couples in need of time away from the stress of kids or careers. If your kids are so 
well behaved that you don't need time away from them, toss in their sleeping bags and 
birng them along for an extra $15 kid/night.

Activities and Attractions

Talache beach is a 2.5 mile drive; Sandpoint, with all its shops, restaurants, and tourist 
traps, is 15 miles distant; and Schweitzer Ski Resort another 10 miles past that. If it is 
peace and quiet you seek however, all the action (or lack of it) is right here. Miles of forest 
road and nature trail fan out from the cabin along the Pine breaks and through fern 
choked canyons to groves of giant cedars. A footpath winds down past a 100 foot 
waterfall to a cliff rimmed bay where shore fishermen have hooked Kamloops trout in the 
deep waters of Lake Pend d’Oreille. We are surrounded by Forest Service land where 
hiking, biking, and ski routes lead to panoramic views of North Idaho from Grouse  
Mountain. A picnic shelter and fire pit are available for your enjoyment along with a gas 
grill if it is too dry for a camp fire. Our private sports park is also available if you enjoy  
horse shoes, croquet, or disc golf; and you are welcome to join us on Saturday nights 
when families from our church gather for softball and soccer, all at your own risk of  
course and with modisty of dress and speech. If you want a little less luxury and a lot 
more natural beauty this could be for you.
