Welcome to the Lloyd Webster house, a sprawling Victorian built in Vinalhaven, Maine, during the late
1800s by sea captain George E. Webster. It is one of the few island homes still owned and maintained
by descendents of the original owner. Located on the east side of Harbor Hill, the house is a short
walk from the shops and restaurants downtown, and is also an easy walk to Lawson's Quarry, where
fresh water swimming is a treat.
house rental amenities
The house has recently been renovated, offering nine large, sunny rooms with an old-fashioned New
England-stlye appeal. As many as 10 can comfortably enjoy a sit-down meal in the formal dining room
and a summer kitchen offers extra seating for meals as well. All dish and cookware is supplied,
including table linens, large pots for steaming lobsters, and a gas grill for barbecue-style
cooking. A back deck (off the summer kitchen) catches the early morning and afternoon sun, a
pleasant place for the first cup of coffee of the day.
The house offers one bedroom downstairs (adjacent to the bathroom), and three bedrooms upstairs, two
with double beds and a smaller room with a single bed. Also upstairs is a huge porch chamber, which
sleeps up to seven dormitory-style. (The sleeper sofa in the parlor/living room will sleep an extra
two in an emergency). Again, all linens are provided.
The house has one full bath, with shower & tub, and a washer/dryer located in the barn. The new
great room includes a TV with cable hookup and a VCR.
