Summerwood Cottage is located in The Village of Otter Creek -
ideally
situated between popular Bar Harbor and Scenic Seal Harbor!
Otter Creek is located aprox 3.5 miles south of Bar Harbor on Rt. 3
We are in "The Heart" of Acadia - in fact our Village is completely
surrounded by Acadia National Park!

From Your Cottage......
you are just a short hike down our Village Trail to Otter Cove
for a lovely picnic or an afternoon of reading, napping or painting
on the shore!
- Acadia's Ocean Trail begins at Otter Cove and continues on to
Otter Cliffs, (awesome rock climbing ...need a guide call our
friends
at Atlantic Climbing School)past Gorham Mountain, (one of our
favorite hikes)Old Soaker, Thunder Hole, the Bee Hive trail head
onto
Sand Beach (for a swim or afternoon sunning on the beach)
The Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trail begins
aprox 3/4 mile down Otter Creek Rd. (with a number of side trail
options including a hike to Jordan Pond House
for their famous POPOVERS!)
From your Cottage you can bike aprox 2 miles along Rt. 3
and connect with the Park Loop Road - which will take you to
Wildwood
Stables (for a horse drawn carriage ride up Day Mtn and the carriage
trails at Jordan Pond)
The Island Explorer Bus stops at the end of the lane
-providing FREE transportation for you and your bikes into Bar Harbor
and onto all other island villages and major hiking and biking
trails.
(Island Explorer begins service the last week of June -thru- 1st
week
of October)
The Otter Creek Market - located at the end of the lane
and features a lobster pound - made to order sandwiches
& pizza along with a large selection of local foods a nice wine
selection and over 30 beers to choose from.
Also located in the Village is one of Maines finest restaurants
The Burning Tree - enjoy a nice glass of wine, a gourmet dinner made
with the finest and freshest ingredients then stroll home to burn
off
a few of those desert calories!
The Otter Creek Hall is close by and features a number of events
thru-
out the year including an authentic Chowda Supper - Concerts & plays
