Chicago. Complete privacy and seclusion; surrounded by 2000 acre 
wildlife refuge. Award-winning architecture; open, modern design; 
cherry cabinets, oak flooring, hand-crafted furniture; fine linens. 
Along bike trail, close to the cute Swiss village of New Glarus and 
excellent restaurants.

Pick berries, collect eggs from friendly hens, gather wildflowers, 
enjoy the gardens, relax on the porch and watch spectacular sunsets, 
wander through the woods and prairies, borrow one of our bikes for an 
afternoon on the bike trail, or take the canoe and kayak on the Sugar 
River. Golfing, tennis, swimming, antiquing nearby. Excellent 
home-cooked meals available beginning in July. A wonderful, luxurious 
retreat from urban chaos. 
   
 
The house, which received an Honor Award in 2000 from the Wisconsin  
Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, is elegant yet  
simple.   Interior flooring, cabinets, and furniture were custom  
built of cherry and oak harvested from the wood lot. Within the main  
room of the house, three walls of windows flood the interior with  
light.  French doors open to a large back porch facing the sunset. 
 
Two greenhouses and several gardens offer abundant possibilities for  
home-cooked meals during the growing season.  Guests are welcome  to  
help themselves to the bounty of the fields and greenhouses during  
their stay, and are free to take flowers and produce home with them. 
 
What is there to do at the Little Sugar River Farm?  In the summer,  
hiking, birding, cooking, eating home-grown fruits and vegetables,  
picking flowers from the gardens, and cycling on the bike trail are  
some of the best ways to spend one's time here. We have bikes and a 
canoe available for guest use. Winter stays offer the possibility of 
ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or simply relaxing by 
the wood stove with a good book or one of the magazines to which we  
subscribe.  
 
Other activities nearby include some of the best biking in the region.  
 In addition to Sugar River Trail,  quiet country roads offer  
excellent routes as well.  Fishing, canoeing, and kayaking are all  
possible nearby. 
 
Local cheese factories, micro-breweries and wineries are close.  
Several fine restaurants are just a few minutes away.  Frank Lloyd  
Wright's Taliesin, the outdoor Shakespeare of American Players  
Theatre, and the vibrant state capitol and college town, Madison, are  
within an easy and scenic drive.

Vacation Rental Rates

Rates 2008 season 
 
Jan. 1-Dec. 31   
$220/night for 1 to 2 people 
$280/night for 3-4 people 
$340/night for 4-5 people 
 
The sixth night is free 
 
 
  
5.5% WI state sales tax added to rentals. 
Deposit of $250 for security and 50% of rental fee to hold reservation. 
  
If reservation needs to be cancelled, reservation deposit will be 
refunded in full if we find another renter.  
 
Full guarantee: We do not want to take our guests' money if they are 
not satisfied with what we have to offer.  Should you decide that the 
Little Sugar River Farm is not meeting your needs or expectations, we 
will bill you only for the nights you have stayed and refund the 
balance of your rent.
