Sin Duda Villas: Imaginative, intimate beachside "inn" in Xcalak

   Sin Duda Villas is an intimate little hotel with combinations of fun art, comfy rooms and good architecture.  Constructed 12 years ago by its architect-owner, who lives on-site, you'll be welcomed into a tropical lifestyle at beachside with white sand, bright colors, Mayan simplicity of form, and a bit of whimsy tossed in here and there.

  Think "green:" we're energized by 24 hr solar power, collecting our fresh-water in underground cisterns for showers, bathrooms, laundry and washing dishes, and using an environmentally correct closed septic system.

  Located at the end-of-the-road, a 5-hour drive beyond Cancun and other large hotels--you'll find Sin Duda is an idyllic and remarkable little hideaway skillfully designed with comfort and relaxation intended for our adventurous friends and guests, many of whom return each year. 

   Rooms feature  Cozy beds: Queen, double + single trundle and one king, hand-carved furniture, manipulated & original art-- each unit with balcony, deck or private patio.   Mixed, bright cotton linens, fragrant with fresh sunshine, beach towels, daily housekeeping, exquisite fresh-ground coffee with home-made breakfast.

  Three standard Double Rooms (#2/#4/#5) with full kitchen, the Maya Cocina an appealing great room, patterned after a traditional Mayan home with vaulted ceiling and carved ceremonial poles for cooking, dining and reading; also serving as our main library (+1500 books), with wicker furniture, and gifts from a Mayan elder, you'll feel very welcomed, well fed, and well read.
  Two Apartments fronting the beach accommodate families or groups of 4 to 5 in a stunning setting. 
  Studio Apartment Selva & Casita Baja set in the jungle serve our artist or honeymooning guests. 

  Capacity: Being small and intimate, 2 or 3 families can fill our 6 rooms, planning ahead is suggested because of our repeat guests.

  Swimming & snorkeling are amazing and just outside the door of your room--put on your fins and masks less than 100 feet from our white-sand beach to myriad coral heads. We're now a designated Marine Park so the giant aquarium created by our protected reef is teeming with fish. 

  World class diving at one of three local dive shops. Birding is extraordinary, beneath the mangroves in hidden river channels accessible from a path behind Sin Duda.  Flyfish the flats of Chetumal Bay; Adventure at Mayan ruins within two hours' drive, spend an island day in Belize.  At night, sit in front of a beach fire, climb to one of our soaring rooftop decks to find wondrous views of the constellations with Robert as a learned lecturer; or go night snorkeling to see a different world in the sea.

~Birds, fish and animals populate the beach, jungle and large salt
water lagoon immediately inland from Sin Duda. Walk near the jungle
along the shore. Hush, you may see hermit and blue land crabs, black
foxes, butterflies, noisy chachalacas, hummingbirds, tapir, antbear,
jaguar, peccari, flocks of green parrots, fox, egrets, pelicans and
heron 2 meters tall.
