This original historic jewel is located in one of the finest areas in
La Jolla. The awe-inspiring views from this property are what have
been drawing the elite from around the world to La Jolla for nearly
100 years. From the main living area, and the outdoor living areas,
you can see whitewater ocean views of the La Jolla Cove, and watch
surfers to the north at Scripps Pier.
This fabulous property was built in the 20's when La Jolla was
becoming a destination for Hollywood's new swank crowd. The property
has been spectacularly restored with terrific attention to detail.
The home sits high above the Pacific and you enter the property
through an arbor shrouded in ivy and bougainvillea. You climb the
curving Mexican paver stairway, with each riser covered in authentic
Mexican hand-cut, hand-painted tiles, of different patterns. Nearing
the top of the entry staircase is a small round brick patio, echoing
the Mexican symbol for sun (el sol). From this charming patio, you can
sip wine and see some of the best unobstructed views of the La Jolla Cove.
Continuing up a few more steps to the top landing, you enter the home
through custom made mahogany French doors. You walk through the entry
into the main living area, and through the original ceiling to floor,
arched mahogany picture window, you see a panoramic expanse of blue
ocean. The windows are unique and operable. The walls in the living
room and dining room are covered in the original mahogany wainscoting,
and the living room ceiling has exposed mahogany timbers. The
fireplace has been restored with hand painted Mexican tiles, selected
by the owner in Mexico. Flanking the fireplace are beautiful built-in
mahogany bookcases, restored to their original beauty. The oak
hardwood floors are original, and antique Persian rugs are used in
every room, with most dating to the 1920's.
Most window hardware is original and has been restored, all light
fixtures are wrought iron and selected by the owner to represent the
period of this home. The living room and dining room are furnished
mostly with antiques, including a Spanish colonial dining table and
chairs from the 1920s, gold gilded "royal" chairs, of an unknown age
(thought to be around 100 years old), French bergere chairs, and an
antique down filled sofa. The artwork in the Living room includes
original Peruvian oil paintings, purchased by the owner in Cusco, Peru.
The kitchen is a newly renovated chef's kitchen, with high-end
stainless steel appliances, imported, unusual white granite
countertops, with a backsplash of hand-painted Mexican tiles. There is
a bar-height counter with stools, for casual breakfast dining, or
gathering. Outside the back door is a stainless steel gourmet grill,
for outdoor cooking.
The property has three bedrooms, one king bed, one queen bed, and one
double bed. The two largest bedrooms (with King and Queen beds), share
a hallway bathroom, complete with a period style console sink, paver
tile floor, and bath/shower with all white hand-cut Mexican tiles. The
smallest bedroom, with a double bed, has it's own delightful petite
bathroom, with a corner sink, paver tiles, shower with hand-painted
tiles, and unexpected ocean view window. This bedroom is entered
either through the larger bedroom with a king size bed, or thorough
it's own exterior entrance from a separate side patio. This bedroom
does not have a closet, but does have a spacious dresser, and loads of
charm with its antique iron panel bed. The bedrooms are bright and
private, with gorgeous 1,000 thread count sheets and duvet covers. All
the bedrooms have flat screen televisions.
A full size washer and dryer are available for your convenience. In

home prior to your arrival. Your order will be charged to your credit
