vacation rental description

Located on a beautiful sand-duned peninsula only a few yards from Pere Marquette Beach on Lake Michigan. About the same distance the other way are beaches on Muskegon Lake. Surrounded by decades old beech, oak, and maple trees in the historically famous Bluffton neighborhood. The yard is one of the largest in the vicinity. Perfect for kids to run around in view away from traffic. A partially covered patio in the back allows outdoor seating during the warm, summer rains. Have your morning coffee outside when the sun is first peeking through the trees. Coming home from the beach in the later afternoon is perfect with more shade & cool summer breezes off the lakes. Dinner inside, out, or at a nearby restaurant and seeing another awesome sunset ends a perfect day. Hi-Speed Wireless Internet. LED HDTV in Upper Level Living Area. Central Air Conditioning keeps the cottage as comfortable as you want, no matter how hot it is outside. We're sorry for our potential guests that want to bring their family dog. We have a very strict policy of ABSOLUTELY NO PETS on our properties. Hopefully, you can find someone to keep an eye on them at your home. We can only accommodate our Summer Season guests from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. It's very important that any guests or visitors SMOKE OUTSIDE ONLY.

Upper Level Living Area: We are most proud of our new Central Air added Spring(2012), but, the most asthetically pleasing is the Harvest Oak simulated wood flooring laid down in the living area & master bedroom of the Upper Level. Two antique, matching swag stained glass hanging lamps are at each end of the living room. An HDTV is mounted out of the way on the wall next to the couch & comfortable recliner. The Flat Screen TV can be seen from any angle with it's 4 Way Mount. A Blu Ray DVD Player can provide your own personal movies. A nice stereo below the TV is also a docking station for you to charge your unit while playing your very own tunes. A desk with easy access plugs as your Charging Station is convenient in the Living Room. An antique quarter-cut oak pedestal table/4 chairs faces the yard & wildlife feeding stations. New windows have been added to both bedrooms & the living room . More new windows have been added in the upper level kitchen & bath in Spring(2012). Plans for more new kitchen windows and other improvements will happen during Spring, 2014. The queen bed in the master bedroom has a nice wood headboard to match the 1920's antique dresser/mirror & bedside table. An antique student folding desk seat is nice for tying shoes or changing clothes. The 2nd bedroom has a large closet, dresser along-side adult sized bunk beds. The bath has a shower/tub, along with the sink/cabinet & stool. A list is on the fridge of all the items in the kitchen & where they are located. Everything needed in a kitchen is there. Also, a nice table with 3 cushioned chairs . The 4 burner stove/oven is gas.

Lower Studio Flat Amenities: This Area could almost be known as a 'Home within a Home' . It's a nice secluded getaway for adults or kids while having all the amenities of a much larger apartment or flat. Our newest addition to this area(Spring 2012) was a larger, Queen Bed. The walls & trim have been painted with a brighter color scheme than before. The newer carpet is top quality. A beautifully finished antique chifferobe(chest of drawers with clothes hanging area & mirror) is our nicest antique furnishing. There are many more top quality antique furnishings throughout the cottage. The TV/Stereo cabinet area is located more out of the way and more visible on it's side to side swivel. A portable stereo/CD player is also provided. We also added new carpeting in the entrance area steps. The privacy this space can provide for that extra couple or In-laws to retreat to is handy. It could also be used as a 'master suite' with all the extra space besides the sleeping area. Another use could be as a separate area for the kids to watch their own tv programs. It's not advisable to leave kids in this area that need to be watched more closely. It has it's own private entrance from outside or can be accessed inside through the laundry room. Along with the sink in the kitchette, there is a double laundry sink, a sitting only toilet/stool, large shower, clothes washer & dryer.

Landscaping/Yard: We do some things to make the yard area better each year. We add more annuals & perennials. A wooden fence along the back border is nicely stained & looks great, while providing privacy. The rest of the plant life that fills in along the borders also give a natural privacy aspect. Although, the yard is one of the largest in the neighborhood , people walking by hardly notice it's being used with the greenery border growth. There is another area farther away from the cottage with a 2nd picnic table. We call this 'Boston's Nature Preserve'. Tiger Lillies surround this setting. Two bird feeding stations, corn holders for squirrels, & hummingbird liquid holder brings in an abundance of wildlife for some outstanding outdoor entertainment. The yard has sunny areas throughout the day, but is mostly shaded with the surrounding beech, oak, maple, & pine trees. An awning covers a large area of the patio off the back of the cottage. Off street parking for 2 cars.

traveler reviews for this north muskegon cottage rental

Truly Wonderful place

Review submitted: July 13, 2013   Date of arrival: June 29, 2013

Stan and Annie have made their cottages a home away from home. We had both cottages for our family of 10. Flowers, muffins and cherries greeted us. Our 3 year old granddaughter Abby said "I have flowers in my room cause I'm a girl..she loved it. The cottages are well represented by the photos -- the yard was terrific for the kids-13, 10 7 and 3. Stan had boogie boards and an inner tube for the kids and LOTS of beach toys. We had fire for smores at night in the fire pit..enjoyed the squirrels coming for their corn. Flowers in pots everywhere were lovely. Stan nicknamed us KC (for Karolyn and Carlo) and the Sunshine Family--we truly enjoyed the area. So much to do -- and Muskegon has made their city family friendly with parks parking at the beach too. We did the dunes, the amusement park and celebrated a 13th birthday at a terrific pizza restaurant that Stan recommended. He is available for advice at all times. I would come back here again--we loved it all.

Great location, very clean cottage.

Review submitted: July 22, 2014   Date of arrival: June 28, 2014

My family really liked this cute cozy cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything we needed, even spices, flour, and cornmeal to cook the fish we caught in Muskegon Lake. Out teenage son liked having his own private living space in the finished walk-out basement. The yard is pretty big and full of squirrels and birds to watch while relaxing. Pere Marquette beach is just a 3 minute walk away and is one the nicest beaches we've been to. We could tell that Stan really wants his guests to have a great vacation. He takes excellent care of the property and was always ready with suggestions and information every time we asked. We would definitely rent this property again.

Love Lake Michigan!

Review submitted: August 27, 2013   Date of arrival: August 17, 2013

The property was clean, well kept and had all of the amenities you could ask for. The cost was a little steep, but the access to Lake Michigan made it worth every penny. We enjoyed a BBQ, fire pit, chairs and beach toys. Stan helped with attractions and even provided coupons to some of them. All in all, we had a wonderful week on Plum street.
