Casa Pericos-4BR, 2.5 Acres, DSL, A/C overlooking Bay in Playa Carrillo

Imagine this...you are sitting in the jungle, the trees are huge,
towering above you, the forest is alive with the chatter of birds and
insects, big blue butterflies glide lazily around you. The air is damp and smells like the earth after a good rain. You are connected to the nature around you, at peace...tranquil!

This is how you will feel when you stay at Casa Pericos (House of
Parrots). A wonderful tropical two story A-frame home nestled among
the mango, papaya, lemon trees and coconut palms on a hillside overlooking Carrillo
Bay. Sitting on 2.5 acres of tropical splendor, you are alone with the birds, butterflies, iguanas and howler monkeys!

You are one with nature. Although Casa Pericos is very private, it is
a mere 5 minute walk to Carrillo Beach. This is one spectacular white sand beach lined with coconut palms and warm, gentle surf and untouched by any buildings whatsoever. The guidebooks say it is one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. The 3 kilometer long crescent beach is protected by a coral reef which keeps the waves small and is a great beach for families with children. It is a popular beach for surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, sunbathing, swimming and relaxing. It is also the place to be when the sun sets over Carrillo Bay and the Pacific Ocean. A brilliant, magical experience!

From the large covered deck and patio overlooking the beach, you can
observe flocks of parrots (yellow naped amazons and smaller orange fronted parakeets), motmots, trogons, kiskadees and an array of different birds flying by at any given moment. In the mangroves below the cresendo of birds, frogs, crickets and other creatures is quite melodious. At night you can sit and watch the bats zipping around
your head, devouring the unsuspecting insects, see the geckos
scampering after moths and chirping loudly for mates, and in the
distance watch the blinking lights of the fire flies. The longer you
sit the louder everything becomes!

Hungry? A 5 minute walk up the hill and you're in the center of town.
A quaint little fishing village which hosts several good restaurants
and three little grocery/liquor stores plus a mini-golf. For something
a little more happening take a 10 minute local bus or cab ride into Samara where you will find several waterfront restaurants, water sport rentals, three internet cafes, a bank with ATM, tourist shops, two surf schools, and massage and language schools.

Four bedrooms - master bedroom suite has a king, second downstairs
bedroom has a double plus a twin and two upstairs bedrooms have two or three twins each. All bedrooms have spectacular ocean or jungle views, air conditioning with remote controls and are fully furnished with  linens and towels. Two full bathrooms with showers and hot water are located downstairs and the upstairs bedroom facing the jungle has its own half bath. All bedrooms also have variable speed floor and ceiling fans as do the living room, kitchen, and covered outdoor deck patio areas.

Gourmet kitchen with state of the art stainless steel appliances and dishwasher in case you want to cook, and what would a tropical vacation be without a blender for those fruit smoothies or specialty tropical drinks, a coffee maker for the fine Costa Rican coffee, a toast/bagel cooker, a microwave for the sunset popcorn and a full complement of basic kitchen utensils, pots and pans and cooking supplies. An outdoor propane BBQ grill and a digital guest security safe are also provided. Outdoor hammocks, overhead fans and swinging chairs make your relaxation on the covered outdoor deck overlooking the Pacific ocean and the spectacular sunsets all the more enjoyable.

Wireless broadband DSL Internet, Satellite TV, an iPod/iPhone charging dock with speakers, board games and DVD/CDs for when you get tired of listening to the crescendo of bugs and native critters plus a modern washer and dryer for when you want to wear something other than a swimsuit also are also provided. Our outside shower lets you wash off all the sand when you return from the beach which is only 800 feet down the hillside from our home.

Costa Rica is so diverse, there is so much to do! A 5 minute walk
down the hill from Casa Pericos and you can be on the beautiful
3 kilometer long sugar sand Carrillo beach, enjoying world class sport and game fishing from the Carrillo harbor or riding horses on some of the world's most spectacular scenery and waterfalls, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, surfing,
boogie-boarding, mountain biking, zip-lining and more. If your time
allows, we recommend you also visit the Monteverde cloud forest or the
active Arenal Volcano and hot springs, two of Costa Rica's most popular tourist spots.
