Cottage on Shavehead Lake in Cassopolis

Located in southwest Michigan (about 20 minutes northeast of
Elkhart, Indiana). It is located on beautiful Shavehead Lake with
100 ft. of lake frontage. Swim, fish, canoe or read - do as much or
as little as you want. The cottage has been in our family for over
50 years. If you're looking for a resort type setting, this ISN'T
it. It is an old, very well used cottage with mismatched furniture
and all.
It has always been a special place to us.

Two bedrooms (one with double bed and one with two twins),
sleeping porch with sofa bed and a twin and large living room
with a sofa bed. Pillows and blankets furnished. LINENS AND TOWELS
NOT PROVIDED - you must bring your own. (Laundramat located about 20
minutes away.)
One-and-a-half baths.
Large, eat-in kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, small
microwave, eating and cooking utensils, coffee maker, toaster oven, etc. YOU MUST
PROVIDE YOUR OWN PAPER GOODS
(t.p., paper towels, napkins, etc.)
Deck on lake side with large picnic table and another smaller,
round table. Small charcoal grill on deck.
Games, decks of cards and books available. Two canoes
and a rowboat available along with various sized lifejackets and a
variety of fishing poles.
Lake is about 300 acres, clean and deep. Public boat launch
for your boat or jet ski is located across lake. Nice swimming area
in front of cottage. Lawn goes all the way to water's edge.
THIS IS A NON-SMOKING COTTAGE. Please do any smoking outside.
There is no tv/computer. It isn't air conditioned but has
several fans.

The southwest Michigan/northern Indiana area is filled with
places to go and things to do within a 1-2 hour drive.
Grand Rapids and Meijer Gardens, the Paw Paw wineries, Battle
Creek, the western Michigan fruit belt, Lake Michigan and it's sand
dunes, South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana, Shipshewana (home of one of
the country's largest flea markets, open every Tues. and Wed., May -
Oct.), Goshen and Nappannee, IN (home of Amish Acres, The Old Bag
Factory, etc.). And Chicago is only about a 2+ hour drive.

Four Winds Casino is one hour to the west in New Buffalo, MI and Firekeeper's Casino is 1.5 hrs. to the northeast in Battle Creek, MI as well as several Indiana waterfront casinos toward Chicago.

Cottage activities available include; outdoor games
(horseshoes, croquet, badmitton), swimming/floating, fishing,
canoeing, walking, indoor games.
Or, you can sit on the deck swing and just relax as you look at the
beautiful lake or the swan family swimming by.

The cottage is available mid June - early September by the week 
(check-in Saturday 3 PM - check-out Saturday 11 AM) -
$700/week for up to 4 people and $800/week for 5-8 people. Add $100 for the week that includes July 4.

A $100 security/cleaning deposit is required to hold
requested dates (for each week being reserved). If cottage is left clean and no damage, your deposit will be returned.

Full rental payment is due no later than 6 weeks prior to your reservation date.
Cancellation, of less than 60 days before reservation, will result in
a forfeiture of deposit. A cancellation of less than 14 days prior
to your rental date will result in a forfeiture of your rent (if the
week goes unfilled).
Just a reminder; YOU MUST PROVIDE SHEETS AND PILLOW CASES,
TOWELS, PAPER PRODUCTS AND NO SMOKING INSIDE THE COTTAGE. thank-you.
