One of the better values in St. George Island Plantation, a gated
community. The home, located on a quiet street, has 4 bedrooms, 3
baths, including a separate ground level unit. Able to comfortably
accommodate 12 guests, the home includes one king-size bed, one
queen-size, two twins, and two queen sleeper sofas. The separate ground
level unit has a futon and two twin beds. There is a full bathroom
on each level of the home.
The home has a large tropical yard, outdoor shower, grill, ping pong
table, and outdoor fish cleaning area. The plantation offers a
community pool , tennis courts, and miles of walking or biking
trails. Uncrowded sandy beaches are just a short 2 minute walk away.
St. George Island, surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola
Bay, is located approximately 60 miles east of Panama City and 65
miles south of Tallahassee. The island is located off of Highway 98
on the Gulf Coast. You will not find high rise condominiums,
congestion, or crowds. Instead you will find a peaceful environment
where you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Wonderful seafood
restaurants are located on the island and in nearby East Point,
Apalachicola, and Carrabelle. In addition, enjoy nine miles of
scenic beauty in St. George Island State park located at the eastern
end of the island.

Warm and Inviting

This was the perfect rental home for my family and I. It was warm and cozy inside. Everything was very clean when we arrived. We really felt at home here. The kitchen is very pretty fully stocked with anything you could want or need. The living quarters were very spacious for us as a family of four. There was a t.v in every bedroom and living room. The bathrooms were very nicely decorated and clean. The bedrooms downstairs were very cozy and comfortable. Plenty of room in dressers to put your clothes. The closests were very spacious for the stay. I loved the master bedroom upstairs. It had the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. It had a full living quarters downstairs with a pingpong table which my family fully enjoyed. The home is in a private location on the island and a very, very short walk to the beach which we loved. This is a very nice home and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. It is well kept. I loved the balcony with plenty of outside sitting areas and loved the porch swing. It has a covered carport which was a plus. We will definately rent this house again.

A very relaxing vacation

Our visit to the “Fit for a King” Vacation Home on St. George Island was one of the most peaceful and relaxing weeks we have enjoyed in a long time. This is the second time we have vacationed at this property. The first experience was just as enjoyable.

The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the luxury of having televisions in all the rooms. The owners provided games and books for guests which is a very nice gesture. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, glasses, etc. We felt the basement is a perfect set up for kids/teenagers to have their own place away from adults. The décor was very pleasant and tasteful for a beach home. The home was very clean and well maintained.

We enjoyed gliding on the deck swing listening to the ocean and birds and having some peaceful time to read. During our stay we really became addicted to the peace and quiet. We did go to the Blue Parrot Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The Blue Parrot has a great ocean view and the food was very good.

We felt very secure since the home is located inside the gated Plantation Development. The beach was a short walk from the house and during our stay we had a lot of privacy. There was not a lot of commotion or noise on the beach and the people we did see and talk to were well mannered.

In our opinion the price for a week’s stay was a good value. We plan to return to this property again. We would recommend this property for a nice vacation.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers

Shocking to the Conscience

Upon arrival, bloody sheets, dirty towels were strewn on the floor. Scum in the bathroom sink, tub and toilet smelled terrible. What do you do? You've already paid. We called the owner who said check in is at 4pm, not 3pm, and a couple showed up with clean linens. The couple thanked us for cleaning the bathrooms. Ok, we can do this, we thought. We visited the beach and enjoyed ourselves. As we got ready for bed, we pulled out the sofa sleeper for the children. IT COLLAPSED!. I thought, alright, morning will be better. No breakfast, the eyes on the stove didn't work. What else can happen, right? Wrong! I opened the microwave to find gobs of burnt cheese. So, I set out to the porch for some think time. Nope! The swing is ripped in half. Oh well, how about leaning on the rail? Yuck, wet cigarette butts under the lovely sea shells that appeared to be decorations. At this point, and wishing I had thought of it sooner, I took pictures of the bed, the microwave, and the swing. I emailed them to the owner. This time, NO RESPONSE! I google their names to find the house is in foreclosure. Imagine that and you'll conjure up the images I didn't think to capture with my camara when we arrived. Consider all your rental options before deciding where you'll stay.

Owners response: Our guests are entitled to their opinion. However I feel the need to respond to this review, in an effort to maintain the good reputation of our home, as well as how we treat our guests. First and foremost, our home is not in foreclosure and never has been. The guests arrived early, prior to the home being cleaned. I returned their call within 30 minutes, only to find out that the cleaners had arrived and all was well, or so I thought. I received an e-mail from the guest the following day, letting me know about the broken sleeper sofa. I responded with an offer to have another bed provided, even though there are 3 other sleeper sofas available. Unfortunately, one of the eyes on the stove was not working. The other 3 eyes are working. In an effort to hurry and get the house ready, the cleaners failed to clean the microwave in the downstairs room. The microwave located in the kitchen was perfectly clean and available for use. For some unknown reason, the swing on the deck was ripped, however there were 2 swings to choose from and the other swing is just fine for relaxing on. I responded to the guests on the second day of their vacation, apologized for the issues and offered them a full refund to leave our home and find another that might be better suitable for their needs. The guests responded that they would just remain at our home and did so, for the entire week. I inquired as to why they would post such a negative and untrue statement that our home was in foreclosure and did not receive further response from them. This is quiet shocking to my conscience! I have never gone on a family beach vacation and thought about taking photos of anything other than family portraits and beautiful scenery. Maybe this is because I so value my family and vacation time and choose to view life as half full, rather than half empty.
We have thoroughly enjoyed renting our home to nice families over the past 12 years. So to our future guests, please continue to inquire about visiting our home and do not let this one negative review impact your vacation decision.
