vacation rental description
The apartment, a two-flight walk-up, is located in the heart of
Trastevere at Piazza S. Egidio, just one block from Piazza Santa
Maria in Trastevere and two blocks from the Tiber. It is a three-
room apartment, roughly 700 square feet (60 square meters),with a
large bedroom (double bed) and plenty of closet space, a spacious
eat-in kitchen and a living room which looks out on the piazza. The
bathroom is modern and tiled and has a shower, not a tub. There are
ceiling fans in all three rooms and A/C is available in the four
summer months. IF POSSIBLE, SUNDAY ARRIVALS SHOULD BE AVOIDED AS SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS NEED TO BE MADE.
Fully equipped with all kitchen appliances, computer, dsl connection, wireless, and soft, comfy terrycloth robes, the apartment is designed for one person or for two people who share a bed. In special
circumstances the living room couch can be used for sleeping
arrangments for an additional person (athough this means the bed
would have to be made up each day). There is a small additional charge
for using the couch as a bed.
The apartment is on the second floor (European-style) of this 17th
century building. There is no elevator. The apartment has lovely wood, beamed ceilings in all three rooms and, occupied until recently by its
owner, is very cozy and warmly furnished. The kitchen is wood and
granite and there are two ovens, a brand-new six-burner gas range, a refrigerator, a double sink, a microwave and other appliances. There is no
dishwasher or washing machine but there is a coin-operated
laundromat within walking distance. Laundry service available at a minimum charge.
The bedroom is extremely quiet. The entire apartment is quiet during
the day. In the evenings the living room side is less quiet because
there is a café below, some peddlars and lots of people walking
about an enjoying the scene since Trastevere is a sort of Roman
Montmartre and is quite lively. During the day the cafe is a nice
place for a light lunch and of course Santa Maria is great for
coffee in the morning, and people-watching.

activities and attractions in Rome Lazio
Trastevere is one of the oldest and most interesting areas of Rome.
By day, it is like a village where everyone seems to know one
another and have the time to schmooz and pass the time of day. There
are many important artistic venues, such as the Basilica of Santa
Maria, churches such as S. Francesco in Ripa and Santa Cecilia, and
museums such as the Villa Farnesina. The apartment is also walking
distance from Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona and Largo Argentina.
And the neighborhood is well connected by bus to all of downtown
Rome. At night, Trastevere shows an entirely different face. Home to
some of the city's most popular restaurants and pizzerie, it is also
full of small clubs, boutiques and "gelaterie" and is, therefore, a
magnet for Italian and foreign evening revelers.
