Due to Hurricane Ike, the amenities described in these pages with
regard to the island will not be accurate. The house is undamaged and
rentable but the island has been dealt a terrible blow and will be in
disaster recovery mode for quite some time. We welcome your inquiries
if you would like to rent the house for a base during recovery. Please
pray for Galveston.

Historic home built in 1910 that's fun, not stuffy. We think
Victorian furniture is beautiful, but it's not known for comfort so
we've furnished our home with contemporary, comfy furniture that you
can relax on. 3 bedrooms plus loft, two full bathroom plus self-inflating
velour-top mattress with feather topper. Couch sleeps one.
One car garage plus one on-street parking pass. Our home is in the
heart of Galveston's "East End Historic District" known for
architecture reminiscent of New Orleans or San Francisco. Sip your
morning coffee on the Lanai as you listen to the doves and watch the
island wake up. It's 8 feet above street level, so stay in your robe
if you want to--we do! We are within a two minute drive to the beach and
within one and two blocks of three of the best restaurants on the island
which allows you to forget about cooking if you choose. Close to
everything, yet tucked away in the privacy and beauty of one of
Galveston's
grand old neighborhoods.

house rental amenities

Queen beds with thick, pillow-top mattresses in bedrooms,Futon with 8
inch thick mattress in loft, egyptian cotton linens for the beds and
extra-large towels, bath sheets, and face cloths in
the bathroom. Washer and dryer, central heat and air downstairs, quiet
window units upstairs
cable tv and DVD/VCR player in livingroom and one bedroom. TV/dvd
player in loft, CD player,
ceiling fans in all rooms including front lanai & kitchen.
Kitchen amenities include all eating and cooking utensils, dishes,
pots and pans, crock pot, electric skillet, toaster, blender,
coffeemaker, refrigerator with icemaker, stove, microwave,
dishwasher. We supply coffee filters, dishsoap and dishwasher
tablets, first roll of toilet paper and paper towels. Blowdryers in
both bathrooms.
There is a full service grocery store 5 blocks away for all
of your other needs.

activities and attractions in Galveston Texas

We are a 2 minute drive from the seawall where there is always a
place to park, even during holidays. We are also a two minute drive
from "The Strand", Galveston's historic shopping district. Take the
kids to "Schlitterbahn", the nation's favorite water park or take a
trip to "Moody Gardens", Galveston's own science and nature
experience covering several acres. Moody Gardens includes an
aquarium, dinosaur exhibit, IMAX theatre, swimming lagoon and many
other activities for adults and children. Rainforest Cafe is here on
the island complete with a "Rainforest Water Ride" for an end-of-the-
meal adventure. Other activites include a large flight museum,
miniature golf, Seawolf Park, The "Alyssa"(a tall ship from the
1800's), the wharf, many fishing excursions, 3 large fishing piers,
Duck Tours (an on-land & on-water adventure tour), historic tours--
including "The Bishop's Castle", and "Moody Mansion", horseback
riding, horse and buggy tours, jet ski rental, scuba diving--the
list goes on. We also furnish you with our "Guide to Galveston", an
album we've put together for our guests with suggestions on where
the locals eat(and where they don't!) and also menus and prices for
various restaurants and activities. It also includes suggestions for
how to get around the island and where to go for necessities etc..

One Story-April 15 thru September 15 $145-$175 per night or $900 per
week
One Story-September 16 thru November 30 $125-$145 per night or $800
per week
One Story-December 1 thru April 14 $115-$125 per night or $700 per week
For both stories, add $100 p/night. For both stories on a weekly
basis, prices are $1350, $1500, $1650
Full month is $3600. This includes weekly maid service, yard service,
all utilities and cable
