vacation rental description

WEEK OF 08/27/2011-09/02/2011--$ 1630.00 SPECIAL REDUCED RATE!

This luxury custom Outer Banks cottage is perfect for family vacations. Our new features include a private heated pool and a large game/pool room! Game room was expanded for 2010 with a bunkset, foosball table and other attractions with half bathroom at ground level, adjacent to swimming pool).

SPECIAL NOTE : Resort Realty and the property owner offer discounts to the following:  Active duty military, Reserve/Guard and First Responders (police, fire, and EMS) get an additional 10% off!

The name of our beach house is "The Great Escape" and we think that you'll agree that is just what it is! This custom-built home is close to lots of activities and shopping, but is conveniently located in a quiet subdivision. We think our view of the mighty Atlantic is awesome (almost as good as at the oceanfront, and much more affordable) and we think that you will too!

We're just 500' back from the water and the price is a fraction of those homes at the oceanfront!  Travel by foot direct to the beach, all on paved surfaces, with no highways to cross.

The six bedrooms sleep 14 people in comfort and a queen sleep sofa
in the downstairs front bedroom could accommodate 2 more people.
Each bedroom (except the bunk rooms) has an overhead fan, as do the
living area and the kitchen. There are 3 1/2 bathrooms, one adjacent to
the upstairs hall and first bedroom. The second bathroom is
next to the master bedroom. The third bathroom opens on the
downstairs hall. The half bath is on ground level, near the sixth bedroom. The bedroom and has a foosball table, dresser and TV, plus computer games. A fish-cleaning station and an outside shower are also available on the ground level. Off street parking is provided for 4 to 6 cars.

The cottage is situated on an open space, which allows additional
privacy behind the house. This open space is deeded forever wild and
provides an outstanding, open-horizon view of the ocean and surf!
This sweeping view is great from inside the home or from the spacious
second floor deck. In addition, there is also a "crow's nest" over
the screened-in porch. This provides a commanding view of the ocean
and of the Currituck Club's highly-rated golf course across the street as well.

house, and its interior are available on request.

The house is wired for digital cable and there are five televisions.
There are numerous books for adults and children, VCRs, a DVD player
and a library of DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes for your viewing and
listening pleasure too.

A number of beach toys, several Boogie Boards, and at least 4 beach
chairs are provided as well. There is also a comfy love seat swing
for two on the first level deck.  In addition, two smaller decks at
the front of the house provide additional cozy retreats overlooking the pool.

and all utensils you would expect are also provided, right down to
storage containers, a four-slice toaster, and a coffeemaker.
The kitchen range is a self-cleaning model, and our big 26

the-door ice and chilled water. The kitchen floor is ceramic tile,

activities and attractions in Corolla Atlantic Coast

The main entrance to the Currituck Club is directly across the
street. This challenging Rees Jones-designed 18-hole golf course is
known as a golfer's delight, and a "pitch and putt" course is nearby
too; shopping is close by as well, including a recently built Harris
Teeter grocery (with a Starbucks coffee shop). Other fine shops and
restaurants are now in place as well. These include a pizza/sub
shop, a coffee shop, and a fishing supplies outfitter which also
offers deep sea fishing charters. The newest addition is an ice cream
store (my favorite!)

Go Karts, small sail boats, jetskis, and kayaks can be rented nearby.
Upscale shopping, a multiple screen movie theater, a large Food Lion
grocery store and a number of excellent restaurants (and some fast
food too)are close by as well!

A major plus for families with children -- there are NO HIGHWAYS TO
CROSS to get to the ocean! Direct access to the beach is through
neighborhood roads and a boardwalk over the dunes. It's a wide,
uncrowded beach and it's only 500' to the high tide line! The surf
is excellent for body surfing or "boogey boarding."

Both adjacent subdivisions have tennis courts and lifeguards
are stationed here daily during the summer (each lifeguard station
is about 500' away from our section).

Currituck lighthouse is close by (in Corolla village) and can still be climbed (if you're in shape).  It's one of the only brick-faced lighthouses on the east coast.  Bodie Island, Hatteras, and Ocracoke lighthouses are all within roughly 40-100 miles.  Don't miss the Elizabeth II replica ship in Manteo.  The original ship arrived in the New World (bearing the "Lost Colony") well before the Mayflower.  Hangglide from Jockey's Ridge, the tallest sand dune in the east!!

Our Third Visit to the Great Escape!

Review submitted: March 22, 2010   Date of arrival: July 4, 2009

In the past ten years, my family has traveled to the Outer banks a total of 4 times. We have stayed at the Great Escape 3 out of 4 trips. Although there are many lovely properties in the outer banks, we have found the Great Escape to be the perfect fit for our family.

The property is nestled in a cul du sac which is perfect for bicycling for our younger children. The development which the Great Escape is in is conveniently located just across the street from a shopping plaza, with a grocery store, ice cream parlor, and a wings store.

It is the perfect, affordable vacation rental not only for single families but multiple families as well, since there is ample space. The house is tastefully decorated and has a well appointed kitchen. The house has a perfect ocean view from all decks in addition to the livingroom and dinning area. It is an easy 2 or 3 minute walk to the beach. There is a wonderful deck hot tub off of one of the second floor bedrooms. The owner of the property has added a new addition, a game room complete with a pool table-in addition to a lovely pool. During our last visit during the month of April we decided to pay the additional fee to have the pool heated off season. It was perfect, the children spent their mornings on the beach, and their afternoons at the pool. One of our favorite family activities at the Great Escape is taking in the sunset from the roof deck.

“This is one of the best places we’ve stayed

Review submitted: March 6, 2010   Date of arrival: August 15, 2009

“This is one of the best places we’ve stayed on the Outer Banks. This house is beautiful and has all the comforts of home and more! The beach here is lovely and I loveall the little private balconies and places to retreat to. We are already looking to come back next year."

"What a terrific week – we don’t want it to end! The weather was perfect. The house is wonderful with all we needed and more. The view of the ocean is beautiful, especially the sunrise (it is a must to see at least one time during your stay!). We climbed the Currituck lighthouse, drove the Go-Carts, parasailed and shopped."

"Most of our time was spent at the ocean…much warmer water than NH’s ocean temps! When not on the beach, we lived on the decks! Warm winds, great views, the sound of the waves, and no bugs (like in NH). Just heaven. Thanks for a terrific house and vacation, certainly not our last visit to the OBX!”

"Had a blast...glad I got to come down...every one of my buddies rave about the Outer Banks.I'm sooooo coming back!

“I spent hours looking at vacation homes...

Review submitted: March 6, 2010   Date of arrival: May 30, 2009

“I spent hours looking at vacation homes and kept coming back to yours. Your home is everything it appeared to be and much more. Beautifully appointed and well-stocked – we lacked for nothing.

My ideal vacation was one where I did nothing more than walk to the beach, swim in a pool and look out at the ocean – utter relaxation. Your home couldn’t have suited our needs better. Particularly appreciated the pool V-ball -spent many hours playing. The Rec room is a nice addition. Overall wonderful. Definitely plan on returning next year.”
