Vacation Rental Description

Bayside House is just 75' from the waters edge and faces directly into
the sunset. Built in 2001, it has a knotty pine interior, lots of windows 
that give the house a light, airy feeling, cozy furnishings with
modest antiques, and a large collection of books for the reader and/or
the writer to enjoy.

Three bedrooms will sleep 6 but for larger parties the den has a futon 
couch that will sleep two more for an additional fee. The house is in a 
quiet location about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park 
and is on the ocean overlooking Union River Bay as well as a lovely view 
of Blue Hill Mountain. 

A large deck on the lower level and a balcony from the second-story 
bedroom offer places to sit and enjoy our wildlife....songbirds, ducks, 
loons, gulls, eagles, on occasion some wild turkeys, squirrels, seals, 
osprey. The pebble beach in front of the house is surrounded by rocks 
and lots of chances for beach combing and exploring. 

If by chance the weather is rainy there is a well stocked video and CD 
library and a wide variety of games. Two bathrooms are helpful with a 
larger group, each having its own hot water supply and the larger 
offering a jacuzzi. A roomy kitchen is well supplied with the 
necessities and plenty of work space for the cooks in your group. The 
second-story library is a cozy spot for quiet time with two writing 
desks and plenty of light from the clearstory windows.

Vacation Rental Amenities

Two bedrooms have queen size beds, one bedroom has a twin and a 
trundle. The den has a full-sized futon couch. There is a washer and 
dryer in the laundry area. The furnace will take the chill off morning
or evening if necessary. Besides the regular appliances the kitchen has
a toaster-oven, blender, coffee maker and dishwasher.There's a b-b-que
on the porch off the kitchen. There are chairs and side-tables on both
the deck and the balcony. Badmitton can be played on a spot up along 
the driveway.

Activities and Attractions

There is plenty to do if you've had enough relaxing at the house. 
Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are only 20 minutes away. The park 
has great hiking trails that overlook beautiful spots on Mount Desert 
Island. The carriage roads are excellent for biking or walking. Two 
lakes are wonderful for swimming and for the really brave ocean swimmer 
there is Sand Beach. 

There are three towns on MDI and all offer shopping, restaurants, boat 
trips, whale watching, libraries, museums and movies as well as lovely 
sights to see if you just enjoy driving.There are kayaking and canoe 
rentals, and guided day trips available.

The City of Ellsworth is only 10 minutes away in the opposite direction. 
It has more shopping, restaurants, a health-food store, and a water
park. In between is Trenton where there is a small airport, small zoo,
more shopping and great places to get lobsters and steamed clams.
