Vacation Rental Description

Welcome to Sarita's Cottage - our hideaway home in the woods only 35 minutes north of Victoria! 

Sarita's Cottage is a charming 3 storey house nestled in a beautiful forested property just 2 
minutes away from Shawnigan Lake. Located on a quiet residential street on the west side of 
Shawnigan Lake, the house is on 1/3 of an acre. There is parking for 3 vehicles (plus boat), a 
permanent fire pit for evening cook-outs, a propane BBQ and a grassy area for an afternoon picnic. 

The lake is a short walk down the road -- just far enough away to be sheltered from the noise of the 
boat traffic, but close enough to be there in a 2 minute walk. The lake access is a public access, 
but one that very few know about. It is very private and a lovely spot to spend the day swimming, 
fishing, canoeing or just relaxing with a book!

Inside, the house is clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. 
The ground floor is where you'll find the living room, kitchen and a bathroom/laundry room. 
The second floor has a second bathroom, a guest bedroom, and a sunroom with outside deck.
The third floor is where you'll find a spacious, loft-style master bedroom.

Vacation Rental Amenities

In the living room there are two comfortable couches - one of which has a brand new double-sized 
Sealy Posturepedic pull out bed, a country style rocking chair, a woodstove, and an entertainment 
center (TV, DVD, CD)

The kitchen has been recently updated and is fully equipped. The appliances include a fridge, stove, 
convection oven, and brand new microwave. There are also several small appliances such as a blender, 
mixer, food processor, coffee grinder, etc.  

The dining table seats 4, but has leaves that can be pulled out to accommodate more (up to 10)

The downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. The laundry area is concealed behind 
two folding doors. There is a washing maching and dryer available for your convenience.

Up the stairs you will find another bathroom where you can soak in an old-fashioned claw foot tub. 
Or, if you prefer, you can have a shower under the new "rain shower" head. There is also another 
toilet and sink. All linens and towels included.

The first room on the second floor is a cozy guest bedroom with a double bed, closet, and chest of 
drawers. The bedroom windows overlook the back of the property -- you might see some squirrels 
running up the trunks of the tall fir trees!

The second room is a sunroom that is currently being used as a hobby room. There is a closet that 
can be used for storing clothes. The large desk is perfect for using your laptop -- although 
wireless internet is available throughout the entire house. There are three big windows that let in 
a lot of sunshine, and French doors that lead to an outside deck that wraps around the front of the 
house. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the deck at the patio table! 

Up the stairs to the third floor, you will find the master bedroom. The loft-style bedroom is very 
spacious and has windows at both ends of the room that let in a lot of light, and overlook both 
sides of the property. The queen sized bed is fitted with new linens, down duvets and pillows. 


 

Activities and Attractions

At the Lake: swimming, boating, fishing (trout-stocked), canoeing, kayaking, sailing, wakeboarding, 
tubing, waterskiing. Water equipment rentals available at "The Galley" on the east side of Shawnigan 
Lake.

In Shawnigan Village (10 minute drive): general store, post office, pharmacy and medical clinic, 
barber, gas station, bank, video rentals, internet care, good coffee shops, excellent bakery, great 
restaurants, museum and boutique shops. 

In the great outdoors: hiking and horseback riding on the Trans Canada trail, West Shawnigan Lake 
Provincial park just down the road, the ocean is a 15 minute drive away, many local vineyards to 
explore. Also, many local golf courses to enjoy.

A little further away: the city of Victoria is only a 35 minute drive south, the town of Duncan is 
30 mins north, the Chemainus murals are about 45 mins north, and the quaint seaside village of 
Cowichan Bay is only 25 minutes away.

So much to do and so much to enjoy on your holiday! Sarita's Cottage is a perfect getaway from the

High Season

     1 July - 1 Sept :  $950/ week  * 1 week minimum stay

Shoulder Season 

    1 June - 30 June: $ 800/ week   * 1 week minimum stay
    1 Sept - 30 Sept: $ 800/week    * 1 week minimum stay

No pets and no smoking please.
