vacation rental description

New to Rent by Owner! Just listed!

The cabin sits on 1 FULL private wooded acre above Dollywood and
Splash Country. While here, you can listen to the Dollywood Steam
Train whistling around the next mountain while watching the steam
roll out from the tree tops. Parrot Mountain and Gardens is at the
bottom of our hill! You can hear the tropical birds singing from the
Parrot Mountain Park below in the distance. The cabin is in a
peaceful setting with the only sounds being nature.

You can drive to the bottom of the mountain (1/4 mile) and there is
the entrance to Dollywood and Splash Country. We also have easy
access to all the bypasses into the Pigeon Forge Strip and
Gatlinburg without getting stuck in the main strips traffic.

FAQ's:

Can you hear Dollywood or any other Noise from Pigeon Forge?

Absolutley NOT!

Dollywood sits within her own little valley. During the day, while
Dollywood is operating, every 30 minutes or so you can hear the
Steam Train Whistle off in the distance, but not to the point of
being loud or annoying. It is more of a smoky mountain feel! Aside
from that, we are surrounded by woods so the only thing you will
hear is the local wildlife going on about their day, birds chirping,
squirells scampering, woodpeckers pecking, and on occasion a faint
exotic tropical bird call from Parrot Mountain Park on the other
side of the woods.

How close are the other cabins next to the Thistle Britches Cabin?

Thistle Britches sits on 1 full acre and is on the highest elevation
of all the cabins on the mountain. The cabin is surrounded on 3
sides by woodlands, and open to the front view with various trees.
Here is the perspective sitting on the deck facing out towards the
view from the cabin:
Right of the cabin:
To the right is 180 degrees of pure woodlands, that grade up 250
feet to the sloping ridge of the mountain, on the other side of the
ridge is another 100 acres of pure woods. If you take the short
trail up there you can see a 30 mile view of the Valley on the
backside of our mountain.

Behind the cabin:
Behind the cabin is 100% woodlands. The ridge follows straight back
from the side of the cabin towards the back about 500 foot until the
ridge slopes down and ends at a point. I have walked back through
the small trail on the ridge to the point and found an awesome 320
degree view of the valley and Smoky Mountains and LeConte. It is at
this point you tell is where the indians and civil war soldiers
would have used to spot game or use as a lookout point.
Left-Front Corner of the Cabin
This is the 1/2 of the acre we have that contains woodland, and
small brush and gently slopes down 400 foot to the end of the road
below, further down the slope is a cabin of which is well hidden and
more than far enough away.
Right - Front Corner
The front of the cabin contains plenty of trees to block the
neighboring cabin of which is about a football field length away,
this is the closest cabin to ours which is a very good distance.
This neighboring cabin also is set up that their deck is on the
other side so any visitors there are on the other side of the cabin
from us.

We are bringing small children, where are the sleeper sofas located
in the cabin?

The cabin has 3 levels.

First Floor:
Media Room, 50" Sony, Xbox, DVD (play the childrens
movies, Xbox, childrens shows, board games :) ) This room has 2 red
micro fiber queen size sleeper sofas. The children usually sleep
here if we have friends staying in the attached King Size bedroom.
If it's just us, our kids sleep in this 1st floor master bedroom
with the 36" TV and watch their kid shows/sleep over thing and then
they are out. This floor is seperated from the top 2 floors by an
enclosed stairway (keeping out the top two levels noise).

The 2nd level is the living room/dining/kitchen/master w/jacuzzi
tub/fireplace/main deck/hot tub on the deck. This floor's leather
couch, folds out into a queen sleeper as well. (if you want your
children on the same floor with you). The second floor is open
(aside from the bedrrom) to the game loft on the 3rd floor.

On the 3rd floor is the pool table, tv, darts, and sitting table.
We positioned it this way because we could then stay up later, while
kids were in bed, and enjoy the rest of the cabin/gameroom/hot
tub/deck, while the kids where asleep downstairs undesturbed due to
the stairwell. The gameroom is even farther from the 1st floor
reducing any "wake up noise" while the adults were being adults.

Awesome Cabin, Exactly as Described

ElizabethP. (Lansing, Michigan)
Review submitted: May 20, 2009   Date of arrival: April 26, 2009

We stayed at Thistle Britches from April 26-May 5 2009 and we didn't want to leave. This cabin was exactly as describe and viewed in the pictures. The owners are awesome, Jamie was very helpful with anything we called and asked him about. We loved the home feeling in the cabin and that it was well taken care of. We would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great cabin with all the amenities but far enough away for some peace and quiet.

Secluded Home near towns

AmyAmes (Alexandria, VA)
Review submitted: January 18, 2012   Date of arrival: January 11, 2012

There were 8 people in my party and one dog. The location was great, easy to find and very convienent. The home had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. I would suggest bringing additional towels and garbage bags as those were the only things we ran out of. The hot tub was amazing except it wasn't covered and it rained most of the time we were there. The cabin is perfect for 6 but may be alittle to crowded for 8. The bathroom situation was unfavorable because there was no unattached bath available for use. All in all, we had a great time and slept very comfortably!

Owners response: Hi Amy, Glad you guys had a good time!

There were extra towels under the TV in the bedroom downstairs where we store "changeover" linens, wish we had known you guys were running low :( Usually our cleaner leaves extra bags under the sink.

Sorry to hear you had rain most of the time, definitely puts a damper on things. We thought about covering the hot tub, however we felt that would block out the stars, and open nature feeling on the clear nights which is the majority of the evenings.

Eight people is the max, it is best suited for 2 couples (king bedrooms), and kids (fold outs). Yes, both bathrooms are attached to each bedroom.

Beautiful Mountain Views

Robin (Greencastle, PA)
Review submitted: November 11, 2011   Date of arrival: October 22, 2011

This was the perfect home for us to rent and experience Pigeon Forge for the very first time. As soon as I opened my car door I smelled the pines - so refreshing! The home was so cozy, clean and beautiful, and to hear the Dollywood locomotive train whistle echo through the mountains - it was great! The week was a beautiful fall week and we spent many afternoons sitting on the deck soaking up the warm sun and looking at the beautiful mountains and autumn colors. Although it was quite thrilling driving a 1/4 mile up the mountain to get to the cabin, but once you get the first round trip done, you're good from then on out, plus, it helped that the directions were dead on! We took my in-laws along with us who has never stayed at a vacation home before and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay and the entire trip. Our little dog, Isabella, loved it too. Dixie Stampede is a must - we truly enjoyed the meal too, and Bentley's BBQ was awesome. When going to Cades Cove, go early if you want to see any wildlife. We were bumper to bumper on a 11 mile loop which was very tiring. We didn't see any bear, but we did experience one. We woke up one morning and our storage container had been broken into and knocked apart I'm assuming by a bear - I guess he was after the bacon grease!! LOL. Anyway, love this place and the big screen TV, plus it's very peaceful and far enough away from the main drag - that's what I loved!! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
