Situated next to open space, this light-filled, open house has great views of the woods and coastal mountains. The outdoor gardens and decks create a wonderful retreat or, entertaining site. It is located in the small beachtown of Montara, only blocks from the Pacific Ocean beaches. Yet, it is only 20-30 minutes from San Francisco, and SF International Airport (SFO), the cities on the Peninsula (Palo Alto, Stanford, and San Mateo), wine country, and the cities of Santa Cruz/Monterey.
This dramatic 3 bedroom (plus a bedroom-loft)/3 bath coastal home (3600 sq ft) is the perfect house for family reunions, visitors, wedding groups, or those working in San Francisco, the SF Peninsula, or the beautiful California coast. It has a comfortable, open layout filled with beautiful wooden furniture (rustic redwood, rosewood, cherry, and barnwood pieces), local artwork and antiques. The large 30X15 sq ft living room has a fun "fire pit" that is also the plasma TV viewing area. The window wall spans the width of the room and looks out onto a gracious entertaining deck, green lawns, and Mediterranean gardens.
The house is great for entertaining & family reunions as the rooms all flow into each other. The living room is open to the dining room and kitchen. Outdoor decks adjoin the living and dining rooms and create that California outdoor living opportunity. There are all new applicances including an induction stove. Outdoors is a large propane gas barbecue.
There are two spacious master bedrooms, both with CA king beds and seating areas. The first floor master/bathroom is en suite. There is a full working office with computer, printer, internet. The second master bedroom is upstairs and has a CA king bed. Also upstairs, is a third bedroom with two twin beds and a large loft with two twin beds. The upstairs bathroom has a steam shower, heated towel rack & heated floors and serves the two upstairs bedrooms as well as, the loft.
Bedroom #1- Calif King (Master bedroom) en suite,
Bedroom #2- Calif King bed (Upstairs Master bedroom) w/rollaway bed
Bedroom #3- Two twin beds
#4 Loft w/ two twin XL beds
Nearby (two miles), Princeton Harbor is a working harbor where you can buy your fish fresh or smoked, take a deep-sea fishing trip, or fish/crab from the pier. The protected beaches within the harbor are wonderful for children, and the bluff walks provide views of the world-famous Mavericks surfing area, elegant cypresses, and pounding waves. A flat paved 14-mile long bicycle trail runs from the Harbor along the beaches past Half Moon Bay and other trails are to be found along the bluffs, and coastal mountains.
A short ten minute drive south will get you to the quaint, seaside town of Half Moon Bay with its galleries, restaurants, and golf courses. Enjoy the culinary talents of chefs at a host of restaurants, like Montara's La Costanara (Peruvian), Sam's Chowder House, the Miramar Beach Inn, the Navio at the Ritz-Carlton, the award-winning Cetrella, or Zagat-rated Cafe Gibraltor. Or, enjoy local favorites like Barbara's fishtrap, the HMB Brewing company with its microbrewery, the cliff-hugging Moss Beach Distillery or, the 100-year old Duarte's in Pescadero. Order the famous local
artichoke soup.
Further south are San Gregorio and Pescadero with their beautiful beaches, bird marshes and Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Ano Nuevo State Park is home to the famous Elephant Seals (Nov-Mar; reservations required). Sunny Santa Cruz has wonderful surfing beaches and Boardwalk is a short hour south. 20-min East you will find yourself in the redwoods, on Skyline Blvd with panoramic vistas overlooking the Peninsula.
