“Best View”- Condo on the Beach in Corpus Christi Beach

This condo is not at all what is represented. First the owner stated that it was a flat rate for the weekend. Not true, when I made the payment via paypal he called and asked that I send him additional $ to cover HIS paypal fee. Then upon arrival you have to pay a check in fee. The area is run down, the buildings are old and dated. It only gets worse.We walked into the condo and were hit with the overwhelming smell of urine, the queen bed was pulled together like a teenage boy made the bed,the bedding was not only stained but the sheets were full of black dirt or bugs not sure which.The bunk beds were just as bad. The couch/chair was stained and stunk (would not even sit on) the cabinets in the hall were broken with the doors hanging off.The fridge is covered in rust, rug is stained,glass doors were so dirty you couldn't even see out to the water. I didn't even look in the bathroom. The photos of this condo are not what you see in person. I would not have let my kids sleep in this place. I have slept in places all over the world and this was disgusting. I called the owner immediately and left a message which he returned and stated that he would refund the money. This was on Thursday evening. We went and found a hotel and checked in (worth the extra $ a night)Friday.. still no refund and no response from the owner via email or phone calls to both work and cell. I finally stated in a voicemail on Friday afternoon that I would open an investigation with paypal if needed in order to receive a refund. He called me back a few hours later and left me a message stating that he had to transfer money from one account to another and that he had left his cell phone at home which is why he had not returned my call (I had called his work and emailed him) he also stated that he would be checking to see if I filed a complaint before refunding my money. He stated that the refund would be made that night (Friday) or the next morning first thing. I sent a paypal request for the amount which would have covered the entire amount I sent him. Saturday AM..no refund, finally around 3pm I had a refund that was less than I sent him. I ended up paying both his paypal fee and the one coming back. The whole experience ended up costing me approx $30 in fees and a whole lot of headache on what was supposed to be a relaxing stress free vacation. Just glad I got most of my money back and was able to find a hotel at the last minute. STAY AWAY!!!
