activities and attractions in Guerneville Wine Country

The town of Guerneville offers restaurants, a great book store and lots of quirky shopping.

Nesting Company has some great deals on antiques, furniture and Art.

Many summer events happen on the local Russian River beaches such as the Jazz Festival and the Blues Festival, both at Johnson's Beach. Towns nearby-Sebastopol, Healdsburg, Bodega Bay, Occidental, Jenner all have interesting and potential adventures to explore.

Armstrong Redwoods State Park is very close where you can hike, horseback ride, or bicycle through an old growth redwood forest.

Here you can see thousand-year-old living 300 foot tall Coastal Redwoods.

If you like golf, Northwoods Golf course up Highway 116 offers a beautiful 9-hole course through a forest of Coastal Redwoods. The Links at Bodega Harbor has an 18-hole golf course with views of the bay. For beginners there is a 9-hole chip and putting course in Sebastopol.

After your day of shopping you might like to relax at the world class Osmosis day spa in Freestone that offers a beautiful Japanese Zen garden or take in a local massage. We recommend Pattes massage just down the road or pay a little extra and have her come out to the house.

Fine dining and many opportunities for wine tasting are also nearby.

From Guerneville, it is only 12 miles to the world famous Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). The town of Jenner is the first town north on Highway 1 and is  where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean.

Take a walk on any of the many pristine beaches where you can view harbor seals, sea lions and the occasional elephant seal. Sea birds are
abundant in the area, pelicans, cormorants, sandpipers, and many types of gulls can be seen while you explore a nearby tide pool or kayak the estuary.
Up river you will find many kinds of hawks, osprey, egrets, and the great blue heron. Deer are also abundant.

You can take a drive north along the Pacific Coast Highway to Fort Ross to see some history of the area or south to Bodega Bay for fine dining and wonderful views of the bay.
Bodega Bay also offers horseback riding in the hills or on the beach. For film buffs there are memories of Hitchcocks "The Birds" which was filmed in this area.
If you are interested in Art, there are many galleries in the various towns.

A portion of Christos "RUNNING FENCE" can be found in the Monte Rio movie theater where the movie doesn't begin until everyone has gotten their treats at the concession stand and are ready to view the current film for the evening.

After your day of fun, you will get a wonderful nights sleep in the peace and quiet of Creekwood Haiku.
