The Sanibel in Cayuga Lake

Welcome to The Sanibel!  Come sit at the end of our private dock, bring your favorite cup of something warm and just be.  Soak in the quiet stirrings of the morning, the gentle lap of the water and the sparkle of another sunrise.  Spend the afternoon under our giant willow tree with a good book or adventure out in the canoe.  Wrap yourself up in blankets after sunset and marvel at more falling stars than you’ve ever imagined.  Come make memories that our family has cherished for generations.  We’re so glad to have you!

The Sanibel welcomes families and friends attending commencement ceremonies at Cornell University, Ithaca College and surrounding schools.  We’re an easy 40-minute drive along scenic byway Route 90 to most points in Ithaca.  Contact us for further information

The Sanibel is a one-story, three-bedroom, one-bath cottage that sleeps 4-6 guests.  Our entry, hallway and bathroom door are handicapped accessible.  The first two bedrooms have a double bed in each and the third bedroom provides two twin beds.  The remodeled kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, range and center island and is fully equipped with cookware and tableware.  The bright and airy kitchen is open to the living and dining areas, all with beautiful views of the lake.  The cozy warm colors and eclectic mix of furnishings create a cheerful atmosphere.  

A generous front yard gently descends with easy steps to the grassy beach at the water’s edge.  The Sanibel sits on a shallow sandy-bottomed cove on the east side of Cayuga Lake, perfect for swimming and accessible for boats.   The Sanibel is located on a private neighborhood road with private parking for two cars.

The Sanibel is a housekeeping rental.  Please clean up after your stay and leave the home and yard in the condition you found them in.  The $250 Security Deposit will be refunded within 30 days of your departure if the post inspection finds minimal cleaning needed and no damage.

Guests need to bring bed linens, towels and paper products.

No smoking indoors.

No pets, sorry, no exceptions

No open fires.

No large parties, please, as we are located in a family neighborhood.

Need a bit of activity after all that relaxing?  Take out the canoe or bring your own boat*.  Enjoy fishing, water skiing, touring or hire a local captain to charter a day on the water for you.  Explore the world-renowned Finger Lakes Wine Trail and experience the determination and dedication of this delicious tradition.  Enjoy a wine tasting at the award winning Heart and Hands Wine Company – just a short walk from The Sanibel!  Maybe you feel like a drive into town to enjoy one of the last ice cream stands that still has CREAMY soft-serve on a cone!  Stop by the McKenzie-Childs pottery studio and gardens for exquisite shopping and artistic inspiration.  Shopping sounds good, eh?  The Finger Lakes area is loaded with quaint villages, boutiques and antique shops all within a short drive.  Grocery stores, gas stations, malls and even the very popular Bass Pro Shop are all close by.  Please don’t hesitate to ask for further information.

Weekly $1200.00 + $250.00 Security Deposit

Rental weeks begin on Saturday after 3:00 pm and end Saturday before 10:00 am.  

Please clean up after your stay and leave things in the condition in which you found them.  The $250.00 Security Deposit will be refunded within 30 days of your departure if the post inspection finds minimal cleaning needed and no damage.

Rental Policies:

 A $600.00 Rental Fee Deposit is required at time of reservation.

The $600.00 Rental Fee Balance and the $250.00 Security Deposit are due 30 days prior to arrival.  Payment can be made either by Bank or Postal Money Order ONLY.

The Rental Fee Deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances.  In the event you must cancel your reservation, we will gladly return your Security Deposit.  Your Rental Fee Balance will be refunded if cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to your reservation.  However, in the event we can rent your reserved week, we will gladly refund your Rental Fee Balance.  We currently accept cash or money orders ONLY.
