A Private Paradise
Elements Upcountry offers visitors an elegant upcountry retreat,
complete with a naturally relaxing pastoral setting of rolling green
hills, silver clouds, and unforgettable views. The three bedroom,
two-bath cottage is an intimate and distinctive dwelling, expertly
and meticulously decorated to offer luxury without being
overbearing. A Scandinavian wood-burning stove, six-person deep
soaking redwood hot tub, contemporary gourmet kitchen, gas grill,
campfire pit with firewood, and six-channel home theater system
complete with plasma screen are all supplied for your relaxation and
enjoyment. Finish your evenings with a restful slumber in five-star
resort quality beds.
Breathtaking Relaxation
As you sit on the cottage’s veranda 3,500 feet from sea level, with
the occasional low-level cloud at your fingertips, you will look out
from Elements Upcountry over the isthmus of Maui and the beautifully
sculpted West Maui Mountains. In the other direction lays sleepy
Heleakala, its summit covered in gentle clouds and rolling green
hills sculpted thousands of years ago by lava flows. As the day
moves on past the islands of Kahoolawe, Molokini, and Lanai, enjoy
breathtaking sunsets every night as you look to the west from the
veranda that encircles the cottage. Wake up in the morning to the
sounds of songbirds and the smell of fresh flowers.
Comfortable - Day or Night
Because of its elevation (3,500 feet above sea level), the cottage
experiences ideal weather conditions. During the afternoons, clouds
that break upon Haleakala drift whimsically overhead, providing a
break from direct sunlight without creating too much shade. Though
it stays relatively hot near the shoreline, you can rely on
comfortable temperatures in the cottage’s serene upcountry setting.
Evenings are cool and temperate, perfect for sleeping under a duvet
or basking in a hot tub.
Stunning Views and Modern Conveniences
Elements Upcountry is designed to maximize the stunning views that
nature has afforded its location, while maintaining an interior feel
of comfortable luxury. The living area, dining area (with seating
for six), and kitchen blend together, flowing towards the spacious
veranda, inviting the indoors out. Wrapping around three sides of
the cottage, the veranda affords access to the hot tub as well as
chaise lounges, rocking chairs, and a table for outdoor dining.
The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with the finest cookware and
stainless steel appliances, bringing out the chef in every guest. A
four top gas range, spacious solid-surface countertops, convection
oven, espresso maker, mixer, blender, and side-by-side refrigerator
with icemaker are all placed purposefully to facilitate the making
of a rewarding meal. A dishwasher and garbage disposal make it that
much easier to clean up.
The living area is adorned with a stylish comfortable leather couch
and two chairs which allow for external views. Enjoy the warmth from
the wood-burning stove while enjoying a film on the home theater
system. For those who wish to keep in touch with the world, there is
a fax machine, separate phone line, and a printer with a scanner,
copier, and photo-printer.
Our concierge will be happy to help you get anything you should
need, however the house supplies almost everything. Linens,
firewood for the firepit and wood-burning stove, a washer and dryer,
filtered water, local activities guide, and for those who wish to
stay in touch with work, a fax/copier/scanner and seperate phone
line. There is also broadband internet access.
The fully equipped gourmet kitchen is supplied with everything you
will ever need and more, including a wide array of spices. The
house includes an outdoor propane grill, ample dining area seating
both indoors and out, a small library, beach towels and chairs, a
fully functional entertainment center with high definition flat
screen plasma TV, DVD player and library, a Nintendo Gamecube (bring
your own games), and an impeccably maintained garden which will
supply you with fresh fruits everyday. The deep soaking redwood hot
tub is ideal for cooler nights on the Volcano (it never gets that
cold), and the wraparound veranda offers beautiful views in all
directions.
Elements Upcountry offers its visitors a true chance to escape the
fast pace of the modern world in exchange for a beautiful pastoral
setting. Hiking activities abound throughout the island, including
the trek into the Volcano's crater (not to be taken lightly - coming
up is much harder than going down at 10,000 feet), a hike through
the rainforest up through a gulch to a waterfall toppling down over
100 ft, and "Swinging Bridges," a hike in West Maui, which is aptly
named. The road less traveled to Hana, which is easily accessible
from the house, provides a glimpse of several different climates as
you go from the pastoral region of Upcountry through the desert-like
areas on the South shore and then into the Rainforest on the west
side near Hana. In Upcountry itself lies Polipoli State Park,
another hiking opportunity, and Maui's only winery. Horseback
riding is also available, and not to be missed is the sunrise from
the 10,000 foot summit of Haleakala Volcano.
Maui's famous beaches are not far from the house - it is a 15-20
minute drive to the Northshore beaches, and 30 minutes to the
beaches of Kihei. Beach activites such as surfing lessons, jet
skiiing, parasailing, and paddle boating can be arranged through the
concierge or directly at the beach. Deep sea fishing, whale-
watching (seasonal), snorkeling, and scuba diving can also be
arranged.
Rates are $450 per night for the first four people, with an
additional $50 charge for any others. Pre-arrival and post-
departure housekeeping costs are included; mid-stay housekeeping can
be arranged ahead of time. Should you wish to take advantage of it,
use of the concierge's extensive knowledge of the island is included
in the rate as well. The minimum stay is five nights - if
interested in shorter stays, please visit our website or call.
Cleaning charges apply on shorter stays.
