Beach house on the Gulf near Chicxulub Puerto in Chicxulub

   The beach house is completely furnished, and the rooms are large, light, and airy.  You enjoy views of the Gulf from either the lst floor porch or the 2nd floor balcony.  To the side of the house is a pool and shaded picnic table with beach chairs and lounge chairs.  To the rear of the property, there's a screened-in casita with a ratan bar, fridge, sink and charcoal grill for open-air entertaining.  Hammock hooks are everywhere and hammocks are provided.

   The beach house is located in an area of spring and summer vacation homes, with a great stretch of beach.  The second-row location means more privacy (no beachcombers strolling past your door) and less sand blown in, but still offers great views. 

   Throughout the house you'll find the jalousie windows perfect for enjoying the refreshing Gulf breezes. In addition, there are ceiling fans and/or portable fans in all rooms.  There's a desk and high speed wireless internet for those who can't completely "get away".  The kitchen is at the rear of a large sitting room, and two tables (one is usually on the porch) provide seating for l2 for meals. The large downstairs bathroom is easily accessible when you come in from the pool or the beach, as well as from the kitchen.  Upstairs, there are three large bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed and plenty of closet space.  There's also a cot that can be used with a sleeper sofa.  The master bedroom has a private entrance from the balcony and a LCD TV; this bedroom and the eastern bedroom both have views of the Gulf while the southern bedroom overlooks the back garden, casita, and pool area. Each bedroom has direct access to the upstairs bathroom. 
The beach house is owner-occupied for much of the year; clean and well maintained.

Easy shopping in Progreso, 10 minutes away, or Chicxulub Puerto, 3 km. (less than 2 miles) away, has a small market and lots of little stores for the basics.

From the latest craze in water sports to ancient Mayan ruins, you can find plenty to keep you busy. Or you can hang around the beach house for bird watching, dolphin watching, beachcombing or learning the finer points of “hammocking”. If you want to tour around the colonial cities of Merida or Izamal, that’s easily done and provides some good shopping opportunities, or a visit to the impressively carved ruins at Uxmal and its nearby satellite sites, or a ride on a horse-drawn cart through the ‘monte’ to go swimming in some of the crystal clear waters of the local ‘cenotes’.
