vacation rental description

This beautiful 8-bedroom house on the north shore of Crystal Lake dates from the forties, but was extensively remodeled in 1985. It sits on a bluff overlooking Crystal Lake from 125 feet over the water, and includes 400 feet of lake frontage with a small private sand beach. It is furnished mostly with antiques dating from the 20s and 30s. Access between the house and beach is via a 1/3 mile long paved driveway/trail through deep woods. The house is in the middle of 30 acres of deep north woods. The house has one of the most spectacular views of the lake available. The house has a tennis court, picnic tables and swing set overlooking the lake, and a variety of beach toys and equipment down on the beach. A dock and swim raft, and numerous small boats are available in the summer season. In winter, the place makes a spectacular retreat center for family skiing; it is only 12 miles from Crystal Mountain.

Water sports: A number of boats are included in the rental for the summer season. There is an aluminum rowboat, with oars, and a 6HP outboard. There is a sunfish (sailboat) included as well. There are four styrofoam paddle boards, two kayaks and various other floating toys. There are several water skis available. A 20-foot Boston Whaler is available during the summer season for an additional charge of $500 per week, plus fuel. This boat requires some training before use, and is too fast for anyone other than an adult boater with some experience. There are numerous life jackets for all ages.

traveler reviews for this beulah house rental

Wonderful weekend getaway!!

Review submitted: September 17, 2012   Date of arrival: September 7, 2012

This property was perfect for our group of 16 people. There was tons of space and everything was clean and organized around the house and beach. Plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy and the view of the lake from the back yard was exquisite. The owners made themselves available and provided lots of helpful information for our stay. They were flexible and quick to reply throughout the booking process. Everything that we needed was available at the house. We had tons of fun fishing and spending time by the fireplace, There really was a "homey" feel staying here, and we would without a doubt consider this property again if ever traveling with a group.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly

Great stay

Review submitted: March 11, 2010   Date of arrival: February 26, 2010

Perfect for what we needed. Large enough and enough beds and couches. House was found clean and welcoming. House has a lot of personal items that probably should not have been left out though. Very private property but driveway is impossible to get up unless plowed. It was plowed for us on the second morning of our stay. Nice location and views over the lake and close to skiing/snowboarding. Plenty of places to buy/eat around the house.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway

A perfect retreat location

Review submitted: November 11, 2009   Date of arrival: November 8, 2009

My company just returned from a two day retreat at this home in Beulah. There were 21 of us in total. We had a wonderful time and the home/accommodations worked out wonderfully.

The home is very spread out so nobody felt crowded at all - plenty of bathrooms, a large gathering area, several picnic tables on the back patio and a downstairs game room. The kitchen came equipped with all necessary items - lots of plates, utensils, cooking gear, etc.. Although we only used the basketball court, the owner is very generous with allowing use of their personal items - bikes, boats, sports equipment, etc...The location of the home is spectacular - 30 acres of wooded wonderland and a breathtaking view of Crystal Lake.

We took a day trip to Traverse City to do some winery and distillery tours, and the drive was not bad. We ate at the house the first night (again, the kitchen is small but more than adequate - we fed 21 people out of it with no problems) and went to the Mayfair Tavern in Elberta (about 15 minutes drive) for the second night. We highly recommend Mayfair - great food, reasonable prices. My steak was excellent.

Other posters (and the owner, as well) have commented that the home may need a little updating, the kitchen in particular; however, we found it to be perfect just the way it is. If we had wanted to stay at a sleek and modern location with a high-tech kitchen...that's what we would have done. The homey atmosphere just contributed to our group feeling relaxed and comfortable, which is why we were on the retreat in the first place.

All in all, this property exceeded our expectations. The owner consistently communicated with us prior to our arrival and everything was exactly in order when we arrived. We will definitely plan on staying at this home again next year!
