vacation rental description

Best spot on the lake!
Beautiful private property on its own point, located between Watkins Glen and Glenora, on the west side of beautiful Seneca lake.

One of the only private properties on this most centrally located and largest of the Finger Lakes, it is the ideal season rental (end of May-mid Oct,).  Private drive ends at the cottage with its own point and beachfront.

Summer cabin Original, beach-level family cottage (set back amongst trees, with large, lawn area in front, going out to the shoreline), built in the 1960's, in unspoiled natural setting -

1,000 feet of  shoreline, and 40 acres of private land with woods and ravines to yourself...

Rent by the week - 7 people max.

More info: This is a gracious simple cabin designed by Watkins Glen's physician, community leader, musician and artist from the 1940s through the 1970s - an era that saw the Grand Prix international race in its hey-day as well as the beginnings of the burgeoning New York wine industry, when visionary farmers introduced the Johannisburg Riesling grape to the soil on Seneca lake. The cabin stands as a reminder of the last milenium and also a peaceful get-away.   The drinking water is u.v. filtered directly from the lake. Two generations later, we are very proud stewards of this beautiful property and are happy to keep the summer tradition of gathering, relaxing and family fun going.

This is a wonderful headquarter locale for day trips to any nearby fingerlakes attraction: winecountry tours, Watkins
Glen, Ithaca, Corning, or...a spacious retreat from it all.

Perfect for a family get-together or small, private party.

traveler reviews for this seneca lake cottage rental

Large property with great views & complete privacy

Review submitted: January 3, 2014   Date of arrival: June 14, 2013

This summer we took a chance on this cottage for our annual guys getaway weekend and were completely suprised and blow away by how amazing this location turned out to be. For people that enjoy the outdoors (fishing, swimming, hiking, bonfires, etc) this is the perfect location for you. It is completely secluded, and there are no neighbors for what seems like miles on each side. You will not find a place with this much private land and lakefront beach access elsewhere on Seneca Lake.

The cabin itself is not luxurious, but is rustic and quite comfortable. It has all the amenities that you will need during your stay. Once you get to the cottage you will find that you will not spend very much time in the cabin itself, but rather outside enjoying property.

The best part out the property is the private point sticking out into the lake. The view is amazing, and we ended every night with a bonfire right on the point. The sunrise each morning was terrific. The brand new dock was a very nice (unexpected) upgrade as well. Although the water was a bit chilly (early June), it did get a lot of use.

If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet location surounded by nature, with great views, lake access and complete privacy, then I would recommend staying at this cottage.

Loveliest Lake Location!

Review submitted: July 2, 2013   Date of arrival: June 23, 2013

We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage on Seneca Lake! The beach area is extensive and includes a dock with a brand-new-in-2013 deck at the end and then several hundred feet of stony beach wrapping around a point. The beach is wonderful for children. There are no large rocks to maneuver around, and for nearly all of it, there are no immediate drop-offs. The lake is extremely clean and clear--unbelievably gorgeous. The cottage is in the woods set back from the lake a little bit. It is also just about at lake-level, so there are no cliffs or staircases to deal with between the cottage and the water. The cottage is roomy, clean, and comfortable and includes plenty of all of the necessary items and then a bit more. It is clearly a family vacation home that has been loved for many years, and it is a very welcoming place as a result. The owner and manager were both kind, helpful, and very accessible. If you are looking for a vacation at a true cottage on the lake that is in an extremely private, natural setting, Landsberg Cottage is perfect! For us, the setting itself was the biggest draw, but the cottage is also located on the same road as many local wineries and is just 6-7 miles outside of Watkins Glen, where ice cream shops abound, and you can find stores and restaurants in addition to the raceway and Watkins Glen State Park. The State Park has an absolutely awesome Gorge Walk/Hike not to be missed (for just $8 a carload per day in 2013!!).

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our beautiful and beloved cottage and lake front property. We hope to see you again next year! Thanks again.
