Vacation Rental Description
Welcome to the "SLIP AWAY"
Slip away to Lake Okeechobee. Our Lake home is a very unique
property, designed to accommodate couples or small parties who wish
to enjoy everything the lake, the beautiful countryside, and
the wonderful Florida weather has to offer in the privacy of a home
setting. Our property is on the water and is outlined by a seawall.
From the seawall, you may fish in the canal or tie your boat up.
The canal is off of Taylor Creek and it takes just 5 minutes to
reach the lake by waterway. We have a spacious yard that is owner
maintained and features 9 citrus trees that include orange, lemon,
ruby red grapefruit, pink grapefruit and honeybell.
Unlike most rentals, we often entertain here in our second home
and it is our goal to provide a vacation home to the discerning
guests who are looking for something special and will appreciate it
as much as we do. Every appointment is made with care and
consideration and we are honored to share it with considerate and
caring guests.
Vacation Rental Amenities
Our property actually features 2 separate conventional homes. The
houses are rented individually or if availability provides both
homes may be rented creating the ideal situation for friends and
families who may like to share a vacation together but wish to have
a choice of privacy. Please, we request NO SMOKING IN OUR HOMES and
NO PETS ARE ALLOWED (no exceptions).
We have a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom home. The master bedroom has a queen
size bed, 19" color tv with a VCR, ceiling fan, 2 closets, a dresser
and its own bathroom with a shower/tub. The second bedroom has a
full size bed (pillowtop mattress), a walk in closet and a dresser.
The second bathroom has a shower (no tub). The spacious living room
has a overstuffed queen size sofa bed, 2 overstuffed chairs with
ottomans, a 32" flat screen color TV with cable and a DVD player.
Our kitchen is fully stocked with glasses, dishes, flatware, coffee
maker, toaster, microwave, electric hand mixer, bake ware, crock
pot, waffle iron, pots & pans, stove and a side-by-side refrigerator
with ice maker. The dining room has a beautiful dark wood table that
is bar height, it has an extra leaf and can seat 6. The dining room
is separate from the kitchen and living room. We have a large 22’x
24’ screened deck with a covered roof that is furnished so you may
enjoy the outdoors and the house comes complete with its own
stainless steel gas grill. There is a washer & dryer and this home
has central air & heat. All linens, bedding and towels are
provided.
We also have on the property a 800 sq. ft. guesthouse which is a
large 1 bedroom/1 bathroom house. The bedroom has a queen size
sleigh bed, dresser and a closet. The bathroom has a large shower
(no tub). The living room has a couch, loveseat, and a 32" flat
screen color TV with cable and a DVD player. Our kitchen comes
complete with glasses, dishes, toaster, flatware, coffeemaker,
microwave, electric hand mixer, bake ware, crockpot, pots & pans,
stove and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker and of course
all linens, bedding and towels are provided. A great thing about
this guesthouse is that it has a wonderful Florida room that has 9
windows, cathedral ceiling w/ceiling fan, a lazyboy queen size sofa
sleeper, a recliner and a 20" flat screen color TV. Just 3 steps out
the backdoor of the Florida room is the guesthouse's very own
private screened in gazebo that is surrounded by beautiful Queen
Palm Trees and is located right on the water. The gazebo has a brick
hearth that has a large built-in charbroil grill that is a smoker.
Our gazebo is furnished with patio chairs, table and comes complete
with electricity,lights and a ceiling fan.
Activities and Attractions
The city of Okeechobee is located northwest of West Palm Beach near
the Kissimmee River and Lake Okeechobee. It is known as
the “Speckled Perch Capital of the World” and the “Gateway to South
Florida”. Lake Okeechobee is the largest lake in Florida and the
second largest freshwater lake within the United States and covers
nearly half million acres. Fresh water fish are plentiful and folks
come year round to catch bass, black crappie, catfish, and of course
speckled perch. Lake Okeechobee is the “Okeechobee Waterway”, which
runs from Fort Myers (on the west coast) to Stuart (on the east
coast). Besides fishing, other lake activities include boating,
swimming and water skiing. There is also hiking, shopping, hunting,
rodeos, 2 large flea markets, golfing and watching wildlife. Walt
Disney World is about 2 hours away.
Vacation Rental Rates
Weekly rates are:
2 bedroom/2bathroom - $750.00 per week (US)
1 bedroom/1bathroom - $600.00 per week (US)
$75.00 cleaning fee
We require a $300 security/damage deposit for weekly rentals and
nightly rentals.
For extended stays, please contact us for details on the
security/damage deposits.
All security/damage deposits are FULLY REFUNDABLE after inspection.
For availablility/vacancy, extended stays and/or nightly rates –
please call or write for details. All rentals require a deposit at
time of booking.
