This beautiful contemporary home with cathedral ceilings features 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, two story stone wood burning fireplace, loft, garage, decks (front and back), a screened porch, fusball table, darts and so much more. Winter, spring, summer or fall you will find this haven like no other. A place to unwind, privacy and close proximity to pools, walking trails, recreation, ski slopes, fine dining - you choose the pace and on your terms. We've created the perfect back drop for you to cook waffles and pancakes on a Sunday morning, or to roast marshmallows and make smores over an open fire in the back after a day at the beach, to get caught up on your summer reading list, to watch the newest release, to relax, to unwind after a day at the slopes, to celebrate a glorious day with a cocktail or sip your favorite cognac in front of a roaring fire - the choice is yours.

Beautiful but at a High Unexpected Cost

The house was great, we had a fabulous time. I would love to give this place at least a 4, but dealing with the owners left a very sour taste. The woman is a handful to deal with, to say the least.
To begin, I practically went through an interview before I was considered, where do I live, what do I do for work, who do I live with, it became a bit inappropriate. I had an uneasy feeling about in the beginning, but it was 1 month before the new yr and we were getting desperate. The rental is priced very well, but beware b/c she will try to get as much money out of you as possible. First there is a cleaning fee. When we left she complained at how dirty the kitchen was. The place was not left in disarray, everything was put away, deck was cleared. I'm sorry, but if I am paying a cleaning fee I will not be wiping down the counter tops. We were all very careful to keep the house in tip top shape, b/c I sensed the owner was quite particular. In the contract it states not to move any of the furniture. And by that she means inches! The table was literally moved 6in to make room to pass, there were 10 of us! The fooze ball table was moved also a few inches so that we can use it "moving charge". She also complained about pillows moved from one room to another. Which I doubt was true b/c we did not spend much time in the bedrooms, let alone moving stuff from one bedroom to another.
There is also one other thing. We were supposed to turn on and off the power switch to the water heater or something like that. Accidentally we turned off power to the whole place, and a few pipes froze. We admitted our fault, even though it was not clearly marked for which one to turn off. And if not familiar with the switches it can be confusing. Anyhow the supposed damages were to be subtracted from the deposit, and she stated that the damage would be significantly more. So we rightfully asked for proof. Pictures and estimates were requested and when they were finally sent they were very vague, the picture was of a corner! Furthermore her stories weren't completely lining up. First it was a professional, then it was her husband, then another professional doing the work. Reviews from other sites have sited similar difficulties with this couple. They own a construction company and close associates of theirs are plumbers. Coincidence? maybe. Needless to say we didn't get our deposit back. Its really unfortunate, the place was great. But the trouble afterward was not worth it.

Owners response: Frozen pipes and water leaks are potentially costly to repair and can tarnish any vacation; events such as these are not consistent with our theme, "Relaxation 101." We try to anticipate issues before they occur by communicating with our prospective tenants and encouraging a dialogue. We send specific instructions about how to access the property and what to do upon arrival, including details as to how to turn on both the water heater and the well pump breakers upon arrival and off upon departure. These renters figured out how to turn them on when they arrived; not sure what happened upon departure as the electrical panel is clearly marked. We invite renters to call us for clarification if they are unclear or something is not satisfactory, which this renter did prior to check-in as they forgot to bring along the email with the instructions and needed some assistance initially. I am still unclear why someone would turn off the main breaker to a house in the Poconos during a spell of subzero temperatures...As soon as we discovered the frozen pipes we immediately took measures to thaw them and eight hours later we learned the hard way that one of the water lines froze and ruptured. This was evident from the water leak that ensued. The drain hose from the washing machine also cracked during this period. We communicated with the renter, apprised them of the situation and put them on notice that we would do our best to minimize the costs and repair as qucikly as possible so future rentals would not be impacted. Repairs were made within the week, we did alot of the work ourselves (but hired a licensed plumber and professional painter), we forwarded invoices and sent them photographs not once, but three times. The texture painting was done so well the damage was indiscernible from the photos. We offered to send the cracked pipe as further evidence but they did not respond. Oftentimes we run our rentals through a local realtor; however, it is the policy of the local agencies not to accept rentals from parties with no rental history in the area over new year's - which was when this rental occured. This does not seem fair to us, so we will accept "first timers" but only after receiving assurance that our home will be treated with respect and we do that by developing a rapport. A cleaning fee is customary with area rentals. It is not the cleaners'responsibility to put the house back together again and do a "deep clean" which was required upon their departure.
