vacation rental description

Have you looked at the calendar already? It is filling up FaSt! This is the time to get your plans together and reserve your week(s)!! We even had to book our own week in already or the best times will be gone! This is a four-season vacation rental;(or five, if you include mud season!) in the Appalachian mountains of Maine right on beautiful three-mile long, crystal clear Lake Hebron, just 15 miles south of Greenville at the head of Moosehead Lake. Speaking of "Mud Season", we will give a great deal for anyone reserving weeks March thru April. Best antler hunting is mud season! Stay tuned for the deals.
The Appalachian Trail passes right past our front door, and we are conveniently situated just close enough to our artsy village center. Just a tank of gas from Boston, and about a four-hour picturesque, interesting drive northbound, and you're there, where much of the traffic, noise, and everyday stress will be left behind with every mile. You'll enjoy that last hour of travel even more with the mountainous beauty.

For visiting friends, or extra folks we provide a double futon, a double pull-out couch, and even some cots.

This year was our big remodel of the kitchen and bath! You will get to enjoy the famous black Monson-Slate countertops and use new appliances. We finally installed a dishwasher, and have everything you need during your vacation. Our kitchen has all the expected utensils and dishes, new under-counter lighting, overhead fans, and three great picture windows for a full view of the lake.

We cozyied up the whole house. Even the new bathroom includes a brand new 48" black granite vanity, great lighting, a quiet fan, and new washer/dryer. Spacious and warm!

Family Room - Has a another comfy couch, lounge chairs, a double futon, and additional seating. Because of the renovation, the door closes for complete privacy for anyone sleeping in there. It will feel like a master-suite! Like all the bedrooms, the FR has a big satellite Flatscreen TV and a VCR & DVD for all to enjoy.

From May to October, you may also choose to rent the full size two-bedroom apartment (over the garage, attached to the house by a ramp). One room has a queen-size bed, and the other a double bed. Both rooms have dressers, mirrors, hooks/armoire, etc.; and a fully equipped and fully functioning kitchen, a new flat screen TV, a full-size bath, seasonal air-conditioning, and overhead fans in every room! It's very cute, cozy, and comfortable; every bit as good as the house. Rent both the house and the apartment together so your folks or friends can have a little quiet refuge to themselves!

activities and attractions in Moosehead Lake Maine

Winter: You can even see by one of our winter pics that our backyard takes you right to the lake via your snowmobile; or try snow-shoeing, X-country skiing, ice-fishing, nearby dog-sledding, downhill skiing...even ice-skating! All trails are right here!

Spring: Antler hunting! Moose watching, (very best time to see moose is 'Mud Season"!) Explore the ol' logging roads, but you better have four-wheel drive!

Summer: Swimming, horse-back riding, moose safaris, airplane rides, golf, Katadin steamship, hiking (anytime), ...oh, there is an endless list...who could name it all???

Fall: Variety of hunting excursions, a summers end "Fly-In", where you will experience pontoon planes flying in to Greenville from all over the country, helicopter rides, tent fair, lots of yard sales, and other activities all near Monson.

Monson is centrally located to everything! We are close to Greenville Moosehead Lake and many other lakes, Squaw Mountain, (a.k.a. Love to JAM? Bring along your musical instruments and your voice because every Friday night year-round, there's still a toe-tappin' jam session down at the very end corner of our street - Pleasant Street, at the Monson Gen'l store. Anyone can mosey on down to watch the musicians or just sing and play along!

Then again, if you don't feel like doing much of anything, our quiet house is a most comforting place just chill and
think,
read,
write,
paint,
sleep,
ponder,
wonder,
...star-gaze.

Have a great time!

vacation rental rates

Peak Month Rates: $995.00 per week, Saturday to Saturday. (Memorial Day Weekend in May, thru November 30th).
Apartment is $695.00 per week, (sleeps 4), and will not be rented to other parties while you are renting - unless of course you want to rent it for your own families or friends.

Saturdays in the calendar that are unmarked usually mean arrivals and departures, so do not be deterred by the lack of color! There is no other way in the calendar to reflect this. The blank Saturdays almost always mean one party is leaving in the morning, (then our cleaners come in to clean) then, another arrival in the afternoon, usually after 3:00 p.m.
$225.00 per day between any available Saturday to Saturday period.
$895.00 per week (house) off season rate. $175.00 per day off-season.
Weekend rates - please inquire. Occasionally we have breaks in between vacationers and we'll rent the weekend out, or extend your long vacation.

We LOWERED the Dog Fee to only $50.00! Your dogs have been great! (sorry, we can not accommodate cats.)
Linens fee: It all depends on size of the party. If you bring your own linens, towels, etc., there is no fee to discuss.
The pics are all taken by me, (Roberta) on our property. I try to change them seasonally.

Weekend Getaway!

The Attean Eight (Jackman Maine USA)
Review submitted: January 31, 2012   Date of arrival: January 27, 2012

Had a wonderful weekend here. Eight women from all walks of life, had plenty of room, privacy for a nap or to read a book. There wasn't anything we needed, everything was there plus extra! Nice and quiet area, great view of the lake, we had a great time and would very much like to spend time here again- want to try summertime to kayak!!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: We are so glad you all had such a good time! Thanks for the encouraging tip about "Song in the Woods" a local dog-sledding company in Abbot that you all used while you were here...well, after talking with you we (Bob and I) got up the courage, and we are going to give it a go for a wedding anniversary gift to each other! Can't wait for our fun in the snow! Love this place year 'round! A group of snow-sledders are coming up soon too. They are sure to have a great time there's plenty of snow for all of us :)

Wonderful Week

perrycounty (Pennsylvania)
Review submitted: August 30, 2011   Date of arrival: August 20, 2011

Just returned from our week vacation in Maine. Stayed in Monson at this wonderful home. The house was perfect! Exceptionally clean and well kept. After one day the house felt like home. Plenty of room for the family.

The home owner was a delight to work with and everything was as stated.

Great back yard and view of Hebron Lake. Spent at least an hour or two every day sitting on the dock enjoying the lake.
Made a campfire one evening which was fun.

If you have a kayak, bring it, as Hebron Lake looks like the perfect lake for relaxing time in a kayak. My one regret is that we did not have a kayak.

The house is in a great location for many activities. We spent considerable time in Greenville. Be sure to visit the "Stress Free Moose" for one of their great sandwiches. Also try Auntie M's for breakfast or lunch. Both places were wonderful.

We were able to travel to Baxter State Park ( saw a moose there), Acadia State Park, Lily Bay State Park, took a cruise on Moosehead Lake aboard the Katadhin, and visited the B-52 crash site as well. There is so much to do and this house was in a perfect location to allow us to travel and experience so much.

It was especially nice to come home each evening to this house. I really appreciated the satellite TV, as I was able to watch the Little League World Series each night.

This was our first trip to Maine and will without a doubt not be our last.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: We are so happy to know that our guests feel this way! We also feel that our place is situated in the perfect location, central to so many activities and possibilities on Lake Hebron. We never tire of this area and it seems we'd run out of time long before we run out of things to do. I can picture anybody sitting on our dock and enjoying the tranquility of the lake, as much as driving up the road to Greenville to the enormous Moosehead Lake,(a little more active...)enjoying either setting depending on what mood you're in. Thanks for your post(s) and encouragement.
We strive to please!

Wonderful family vacation!

marla64 (Phillipsburg, New Jersey)
Review submitted: August 15, 2011   Date of arrival: August 6, 2011

We just returned from our week in Monson, and had a lovely time. The house was immaculate upon arrival, and was wonderfully warm, comfortable and inviting, with every reasonably expected amenity. We were traveling with 7 children and Bandit, our Siberian Husky-- imagine our delight when we found the deck had a locking gate to secure the dog! These owners have thought of everything! We were able to spread out-- and never felt cramped. This truly felt like a home away from home.

The property has wonderful privacy, with a beautiful yard and breathtaking lake access. View from the deck is lovely, especially with a cup of coffee in the adorable loon mugs! Kids kayaked, fished and swam from the dock. Water shoes are recommended-- slippery rocks. Lake is quiet and beautiful-- occasional jetski and motor boat. Very kayak/kid friendly.

The public beach is a very short drive away, and was a lot of fun especially for my 3yo-- easier water access for him than from the dock at the house. Lovely floating dock to swim to and from which to jump or dive. Not a "sandy" beach-- instead more of a crushed up slate, with a grassy area to sit just beyond. Very pretty. Kids had a blast.

Monson is a very sleepy, residential town. It didn't hold much interest for my 16yo son after he'd had his fill of kayaking and fishing. We were on a budget, so really couldn't look for more activity beyond the lake-- but nearby Greenville has more of a resort feel to it. We did our grocery shopping there, and dined at the "Stress Free Moose." The name alone thrilled me. :) Food was good. Our only regret is that we never saw a moose!

These owners are a delight to work with. They are wonderfully responsive, and made themselves available to us by phone or e-mail. Their home is decorated beautifully, and they are lovely people. We can't thank them enough for sharing their home with us. We made memories that will last a lifetime for our children.

Recommended for: families with young children, pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: We so very much appreciate our very first online review with their honesty, thoughtfulness, and thorough evaluation, and are pleased to be able to fully satisfy this large family who took their vacation at our home on Lake Hebron in Monson.

We are thankful to be part of this community of homeowners at Vacationrentals which helps us all when searching for a credible site whether we're a renter or rentee, and we were not even asked to say that!

We are committed to always be striving to surpass all our renters expectations now in the future, to always change it up, keep up with the care of the property and keep our costs as low as possible. This gives everyone peace of mind and allows all enjoy a stress-free vacation.

Thank You so much!
Bob and Roberta
