Magic at the Cove

Steven (Elkins Park Pa USA)
Review submitted: March 27, 2012   Date of arrival: October 1, 2011

Joanne and I, twice with grandchildren, once alone, have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at Cove's End during the past several years. The solitary morning song-birds, the soft sound of the tide coming in, the sweet smell of the fir trees all wash over the senses. Always clean and well equipped, the kitchen facilities are excellent, the fire-place dramatic and delightful.
Three minutes from Atlantic beach-front for the hardy, for boating, or sun-bathing with neighbors.
The splendid ride through Acadia National Park, the extraordinary beach sheltered between two large rocky promontories.
The town of Bar Harbor offers all the personal or family activities we wanted, including music and theatre, until we were ready to return to the quiet of the Cove.
We regularly took the short car-ride north to Schoodic Point for the marvelous walks along the flat-rocks that stretch out into the ocean like solid shapes of Monet's water-lillies. Heading south along route one we were only a half-hour from the lovely town of Blue Hill and Mt Desert Island with its small harbor inlets which we sometimes preferred to the excitement of Acadia and Bar Harbor.

All in all, some of the best vacations weeks we've ever had--between the accommodations, the immediate landscape, and the wonderful surroundings.

if you love birdwatching and wildflowers

Besides being a really comfortable and cheerful house to relax in, if you like to take walks along the wooded roads, look for wildflowers, and wear binoculars to
enjoy birding, this is a great spot to do it. Reading and spotting birds from the
wrap around deck while sipping a cup of tea or a glass of wine is pretty great too!
It's an easy house to share with family members or friends; kitchen is great for cooking together or alone. Enjoyed visiting national park and Bar Harbor nearby.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway
