Since 1937, these charming cottages have welcomed travelers to the
historic village of Aaronsburg nestled in the scenic, mountains of
eastern Penns Valley. Our five recently restored, fully modernized,
non-smoking cottages are among the few surviving "Family Cabins"
that once flourished along highways throughout America. The Schafer
family is committed to providing Family-Friendly, comfortable
accommodations and old-fashioned hospitality in a quaint small town
setting. We welcome children in our cheerfully but simply decorated
cottages.

Scenic eastern Penns Valley is the heart of Pennsylvania's Amish Farming Community. East Penns Valley is the home of several Amish sects. Horse-drawn buggies frequently clip-clop past the cottages each day. Visitors can sample

Amish make and sell a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, quilts,
crafts, and furniture.

- Just twenty-five minutes away is the city of State College home of
the Main Campus of Penn State University. Visitors are welcome to
explore the campus with its many museums, libraries, cultural
pursuits, and sporting events. - Take in a concert or show at The Bryce Jordan Center or Eisenhower Auditorium. Cottages are available for all sporting event dates including the famous Penn State Nittany Lion football games.

- Downtown State College is a beautiful, vibrant college town with a
dynamic night-life, movie theatres, unique shops and an extensive

Summer brings many outdoor fairs and festivals to the area.
- JULY: Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts and The People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania
Crafts totaling over 500 artisans from all over the country displaying and
demonstrating their hand crafts. Both festivals feature wonderful
performance artists, & musicians as well as award-winning festival
food. - MAY:
Celebrate Memorial Day in Boalsburg, Pa. Crafts & Antique vendors, Civil War Re-enactments, great food & entertainment. Tour the nearby Boal Mansion and Pa Military Museum. - Mifflinburg Buggy Days centered around the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, activities include Museum Tours, Skilled Crafters, Entertainment, Vintage
Antiques, Authentic Demonstrations, Tempting Treats, Period
Blacksmith demonstartion, Children's Activities, Buggy Rides and
concerts in the park. - JUNE & SEPTEMBER:
Nittany Antique Machinery Show fires up its engines at Penns Cave. Thousands of
antique tractors and engines are on display for the public and there
are many activities for the whole family. Bring comfortable walking
shoes to browse the gigantic flea market area. - AUGUST: The Centre County Grange Encampment & Fair in late
August in Centre Hall, Pa. This 130+ year old
traditional county fair is the only tent-camping fair in the USA.
Local families live at the fair all week long and renew old
friendships and have family reunions in 950 tents, 1300 RV's on the
grounds. The fair boasts hundreds of concessions, over 7,000 exhibit
items, amusement rides, and delicious "Fair Food". The kids will
love having an up-close encounter with farm animals including Cows,
Pigs, Horses, Sheep, Rabbits, Goats, and Poultry featured in
livestock competitions. Don't forget the tractor-pulling contests!
Top names in entertainment are featured at the FREE grandstand.
There is much more for the whole family! - DECEMBER: Christkindl Market in Historic
Mifflinburg in December. It is Mifflinburg's version of an
authentic German Christmas Market, inspired by the 700-year-old
traditional German Christkindl Markt. This is a festive event for
three days, Mifflinburg's Market Street, with its many churches, is
lined with festive outdoor huts featuring vendors with unique
handmade crafts and traditional Christkindl treats. The air is
filled with the enticing aroma of roasted almonds, hot chocolate,
Hungarian goulash, sweet sausages, gourmet coffees, and hot-spiced
wine. Sample the delicious Christmas cookies, desserts, and the
traditional German Lebkuchen (gingerbread) hearts. Catch the spirit
of the season as glorious holiday music is performed on outdoor
stages and in nearby churches.
Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Skiing, Snow-tubing, Snowmobiling
Our cottages are popular with fishermen, who come for the
outstanding trout fishing in nearby creeks including Penns, Elk,
Fishing, Spring, White Deer & Spruce.
Hunting, hiking, mountain biking, boating, picnicking, & snow-
mobiling, can all be enjoyed nearby.
Winter and summer fun can be found at Tussey Mountain Ski Resort
including downhill skiing and snow tubing in winter and
Skateboarding and go-cart riding thru the summer. Enjoy the outdoor
concerts all summer.

Country Vacation Cottages are clean, casual and
comfortable, providing all the modern comforts of home in a quaint
small town setting. They are not ultra-fancy like a B&B nor are they
primitive like a cabin in the woods.
Our Cottages are excellent for Family Reunions and small Retreats of
up to 30 guests. Families & groups may rent all five cottages at
once. Special arrangements can be made for outdoor picnic canopies,
extra tables & chairs, equipment, catering or other services for an
additional fee.

Nicknamed "the Fishermen's Cottage", this cottage is popular with fishermen &
other outdoor enthusiasts. It is decorated in relaxing denim blues
and has a casual atmosphere for folks on the go. It features
- 2 single beds in one room,
- a private bath w/stand-up shower,
- an efficiency kitchen with a table for two,
- an under-counter refrigerator with freezer
compartment, an electric hotplate to cook on - a front porch with chairs.
- Beds can be made into a King size bed and a Cot for one child may be added.
COTTAGE #2 (4-5 guests)$85.00-$95.00/night
The open layout, many windows and cheery pastel green & white decor make this our most popular cottage. Relax & read the paper on the screened
side porch or sit under the stars and light a campfire. Recently remodeled this cottage is comfortable, casual and simply furnished for small families or a couple of friends. It includes
- two double beds in one room,
- a private bath with stand-up shower,
- a full eat-in kitchen with full size refrigerator, stove, & oven.
COTTAGE #3 (2-3 guests)$75.00-$85.00/night
Affectionately called "The Honeymoon Cottage". This is a "cozy cottage
for two" that is popular with couples who need a simple getaway, it features
- a queen size bed,
- private bath w/stand-up shower,
- efficiency kitchen with table for two, under-counter refrigerator with a freezer compartment, electric hotplate to cook on.
- Cheerfully decorated in pastel green and white with a casual
atmosphere. A Cot for one child may be added.

Cottage #4 features - 2 separate bedrooms with a double bed in each room

If you need a spacious yet private space for your fishing buddies,
family reunion or small group retreat, this cottage is ideal for
you. It includes:
- 3 bedrooms + 2 double Futons in the spacious livingroom. Bedroom #1 has a King size bed plus a twin bed. Bedroom #2 has
2 double beds & Bedroom #3 has 2 single beds. - One private bath with tub/shower combo
- Full size eat-in kitchen w/ refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher.
- Large semi-finished basement can be set up with tables & used for meetings/gatherings
- Outside there is a picnic table, campfire ring
