Quiet and friendly cottage in the middle of nature, and just a few miles from all the shopping centers, restaurants and tourist attractions in the area. Fish Camps are quickly disappearing in Florida, as the land we are sitting on is becoming too valuable and is being bought up for new townhouse and condo developments. We are here because we think that the fish camp experience is not to be missed! Come and stay and keep the tradition alive; you will not be sorry you found our little piece of paradise! Vacation Rental AmenitiesFishing guides and eco tours are available, and nature is out your front door. Bring your boat or kayak to traverse Dunns Creek and check out Dunns Creek State Park, a 6,222 acre wilderness, located across the creek from our fish camp, as well as the 1,000 acres Murphy Island, and 2200 acre Dunns Creek Conservation areas. Ravine Gardens is in the center of Palatka, 7 miles from the cottage. Fish cleaning station located by bait shop. Antique shops and historical sites abound in this area, and you can picnic or birdwatch on Murphy Island, or boat or kayak thru Murphy Creek to gator and manatee watch in season. Visit and play at the "Redneck Riviera", a sand bar in the middle of the St. Johns River that the locals use to play volleyball, BBQ, and relax at low tide. Bike or hike the Florida trail, or just sit back and watch the boats and the wildlife on the creek front from our benches and picnic area, or use the fire pit by the creek at night to star watch. Turtles, otters, Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Hawks, Osprey and many other types of birds will keep your interest. This is the real Florida, but Disney World is a short ride away (1 1/2 hours, 90 miles), as well as Jacksonville (50 miles),St. Augustine (30 miles), Destination Daytona (40 miles for Bike Week), Daytona Beach (50 miles), Ocala, Silver Springs, Mount Dora, Ocala National Forest, Welatka State Forest, Crescent Beach and Flagler Beach,(30 miles), Gainesville (45 miles) etc. We are so close to civilization, but far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is the place to relax and see the friendly faces of small town life, with big city conveniences just a short ride away. Day trips are easy because we are in the middle of so much, but you will feel like you are far away from the hubbub once you arrive! This is what vacations are all about, a change from the usual!
