vacation rental description

Rebels Creek Roost...a perfect Mountain getaway with all of the conveniences!

Rebels Creek Roost is a delightfully quaint mountain guesthouse located in the heart of the Blue
Ridge Mountains. Comfortably furnished with charming antiques and collectibles, it boasts a
spectacular view of the Black Mountain range…home to Mount Mitchell, the highest point in Eastern
America. 50 acres of woodlands, cris-crossed with hiking trails, makes this a great spot for hiking,
bird watching or nature photography. It is not uncommon to see wild turkeys, grouse, rabbits, or
deer in the yard. Even an occasional scarce red fox has been spotted bounding across the road.

The picturesque mountain community of Rebels Creek lies approximately 5 miles off Hwy. 19E, up Hwy.
80 North equidistant from Spruce Pine and Bakersville (in Mitchell County) and Burnsville (in
neighboring Yancey County). Less than an hour’s drive from Asheville, NC’s undisputed center for
mountain arts, crafts and music, and Boone, site of Appalachian State University and home to a myriad
of dining, shopping and sightseeing opportunities, the Roost nonetheless retains all the charm and
tranquility of its quiet, unpretentious mountain community.

The Roost’s amenities include a covered front porch, complete with inviting rocking chairs, offering
a great place to sit and visit, read, or just relax while enjoying the view of not-so-distant
mountains. This spectacular view is also shared by the Roost’s kitchen and living room.

The large sunny kitchen, with its frost-free refrigerator, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, and
automatic coffeemaker is complete with Hoosier cabinet, enamel-topped side table and a country pine
dining table with eight chairs. Fully furnished, the kitchen is perfect for simple-to-gourmet meals
or an afternoon or evening shared with family or friends gathered for a round of conversation, cards,
board games, or puzzles. Reminiscent of American kitchens of the 1940’s and 50’s, this warm and
inviting room is truly the heart of Rebels Creek Roost.

Adjacent to the kitchen is an even larger living room, comfortably furnished in “lodge” style,
complete with limited-edition hunt prints and area craftwork. Aside from its spectacular pastoral
mountain view, the focal point of the room is the wood-burning fireplace, centered in a wall of
locally quarried and cut rock. Whether you desire to curl up with a good book, listen to some toe-
tapping Mountain music, or settle in to watch Cable TV or a DVD/movie, you’ll be cozy and
comfortable. Be sure too to take time to enjoy the story and pictorial history of “Smoky the Bear.”
Many guests cite this as the Roosts’ most charming artwork!

The Roost’s two bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with double) are cozily furnished with turn-of-
the-century oak, maple and walnut dressers, beds and nightstands. Bedding includes 100% Egyptian
cotton linens and hypoallergenic bed pillows. Dockers by Levi® brand denim quilts and comforters
lend a rugged nostalgic touch without sacrificing today’s comfort and convenience.

Rounding out the Roost’s well-designed floor plan are two full bathrooms, complete with a tub and
showers; full size washer and electric dryer, iron and ironing board, outside gas grill, outdoor
dining table and chairs, and an attached carport with convenient covered access to the house. With
direct access from paved roads and with plenty of parking, the Roost is the perfect short-term or
long-term vacation destination for couples, families, hikers, bikers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts.
