From the edge of the pond you can see the Mediterranean shining on the
horizon; in clear weather even the peaks of the Pyrenees. The valley,
which ends with a dramatic 200 m high rock face behind the house is
heavily wooded with Holm oaks and other conifers. Occasionally, one
can hear the cries of the raptors, which nest in the rocks above the
house. Otherwise, one can enjoy the greatest attraction here: silence.
This peace and quiet is a rarity in our modern, hectic world. Les
Crozes is a special place; one can enjoy nature in peace, without
noise, traffic, neighbours or other tourists.
Les Crozes is located in the Hrault district in southern France, at
the edge of the Mediterranean climatic zone. It is a wonderful spot in
the sun-drenched landscape of Languedoc-Rousillon with its extensive
forests, rolling hills and imposing rock formations. It is a quiet
region, partly wild, partly cultivated, in the foothills where the
river Hrault descends from the Larzac plateau and, further to the
north, in the mountainous region of Cevennes.
Les Crozes is ideal for those who are concerned about the environment:
We have our own source rather than a municipal water connection and we
generate our own electricity with our efficient solar panels; we use a
combination of solar power and wood for heating and hot water rather
than fossil fuels.
cottage rental amenities
Bergerie Les Crozes consist of the 'Pond House' and the 'Bergerie'.
The 'Pond House' offers a vacation home of superior quality, with an
atmosphere of warmth, originality and cosiness. It is large enough for
4 to 6 people (90 m) and is far enough from the main house to provide
complete privacy. It has two bedrooms (one with double bed, one with
twin beds) and two bathrooms (with toilet, shower and sink). The couch
in the living room converts to a double bed. On arrival, after a
tiring journey, you can collapse in bed, because the beds will have
been made for you, so that your vacation can begin immediately.
The kitchen is
integrated with the living room and is fully equipped, including
towels. A pleasant atmosphere has been created throughout the house by
the use of natural materials, like wood and stone. The fireplace
invites you to relax together and can be used open or closed; wood for
the fireplace is available.
Like the 'Pond House' the 'Bergerie' is a holiday house of the highest
level, where luxury and comfort are tastefully. There is a total of
160 square meters of living space on a single level. It has three
bedrooms, each with its own shower; one with two single beds, one with
a double bed and a large room with (depending upon your needs) two to
four single beds. The open kitchen is well equipped: you will find a
dishwasher, microwave oven, washing machine and refrigerator. Natural
and cosy building materials such as natural stone walls, traditional
Provence stucco and much wood create - even in the bath - a pleasant
atmosphere. The living room lies in the 150-year old vaulted stone
Bergerie. Of course, there is satellite television, and a stereo
system. In addition, small conveniences such as vacuum cleaners and
irons have not been forgotten. A special treat for music lovers is the
baby grand piano, to which you can get the key if you wish.
For a group vacation, the 'Bergerie' and the 'pond house' can to be
rented together. They have a total of 250 square meters of living
space without stairs. They have five bedrooms, each one with its own
shower; two with two single beds, two with a double bed and a large
room with two to four single beds. The kitchen is very well equipped:
you will find a dishwasher, microwave oven, washing machine and
refrigerator. Natural and cosy building materials such as natural
stone walls, traditional Provence stucco and a lot of wood create -
even in the baths - a pleasant atmosphere. A living room lies in the
150-year old vaulted stone Bergerie. In the pond house there is a
second living room with an open fire-place, kitchen and dining room.
Of course, there is satellite television and a stereo system. The
grand piano is an additional treat for music lovers, and you can get
the key to it if you wish.

activities and attractions in Herault Languedoc-Roussillon
This is a true paradise for excursions to countless towns and
villages, each beautiful and charming, with inviting terraces, ancient
buildings, unique museums, and idyllic nooks and corners. There are
many historic sites, some from the ancient Greek and Roman periods,
other from the time of the Templars, and, toward the Pyrenees, from
the Cathars. One of the most beautiful is the town of Saint
Guilhem-le-Dsert, with its great stone Devils Bridge over the
Hrault, on the pilgrims route to Santiago de Compostella. And one
cannot forget cities like Montpellier, Nmes, Bziers, Pzenas,
Narbonne and Toulouse, each with its own distinctive historical and
cultural character. In summer, there is a wide selection of concerts,
plays and festivals. Another attraction are the quaint, weekly
open-air markets, on a different day in every village; the spas with
their health springs; the monasteries, golf courses and theme parks.
And of course the many cafs and restaurants.
Languedoc is a beautiful part of the world and has much to offer.
Along the Mediterranean coast there are beautiful beaches and
harbours, like Ste and Agde. Lakes like the Lac du Salagou (12 km),
with its characteristic red beaches, offer surfing, swimming, sailing
and fishing. And if the catch is less than hoped, it is still a
wonderful surprise to see the silvery fish leaping out of the water.
And then there are the rivers, such as the Hrault, the Heric, or the
Tarn, with imposing cliffs rising above them, where you can take canoe
trips, have a picnic or just relax on small, secluded beaches. The
area is ideal for horseback riding or long hikes. One of the long,
French trekking routes, the Grand Randonne 74, passes within a
kilometre of the house. Youll find gentle hills here and also rugged
mountains and wild rock formations scattered about as if by the hand
of a giant. In addition there are caves, each one unique.
