Vacation Rental Description

This restored sea captain's cottage is one of the oldest cottages in  
Indian Rocks beach. Built by Captain John Manning in 1926, it is  
nestled in a hammock of live oaks and palm trees just a block from  
the beach, and the intercoastal waterway. A master bedroom with  
queen bed, bunk room with two twins, and a living room with queen  
sleeper sofa accomodate a couple, or an entire group or family of 6.  
A garden room (shown below right) and separate living/dining room  
provide space for games of Cranium (our favorite)and reading under  
whirling ceiling fans. Relax on the front screened porch, or in the  
large fenced back yard under the trees. A full bath,and a secluded  
outdoor hot/cold shower allow for daytime and moonlight bathing, and  
rinsing the sand off before going inside,where the original wood  
paneled walls, and new seagrass flooring make for cozy surrounds.

Vacation Rental Amenities

All you need are your clothes and flip flops. Okay, maybe your  
bikini/trunks, too.  We have tried to anticipate your every need,  
and the cottage is equipped with towels/linens, comforters, and a  
fully equipped kitchen with coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, and  
refrig with icemaker. Two color TVs with digital cable, DVD/VCR/CD, high speed internet, 
magazines and books. A screened porch, and large treed yard with  
tropical plantings provide plenty of shade for your afternoon nap,  
or cocktail. A full laundry room makes for convenient vacationing.  
The cottage has central air conditioning & heat. 
 
We allow nice dogs who are in the Frontline or Advantage Program, and who  
don't dig or bark. The large back yard is completely fenced in. 
 
The beach access is just 1 block away.  We also have availability  
for a boat slip on the intercoastal for an additional fee. Please  
inquire.

Activities and Attractions

Swimming, shelling, boating, fishing, snorkeling, shopping, (antique  
guides are available), relaxing in the hammock, or rocking on the  
front porch with a good book. The Indian Rocks Area Historical  
Society is a block away, housed in an old beach cottage. Tampa, just  
25 miles away has International Plaza, Busch Gardens, and historic  
Ybor City. The Seabird Santuary and Clearwater Marine Aquarium are  
an easy drive. But better yet is the Beach Trolly (cost $1.25) which  
runs up and down the beach, as far south as Pass-a-grille. Many  
great places to eat, from casual for a grouper sandwich or stone  
crabs, to the more fancy.  There are a number of places to eat  
within walking distance, including the Lighthouse Coffee shop for a  
latte or espresso, Crabby Bill's, My Place, and La Cachette a la  
Plage.

Vacation Rental Rates

Available for weekly, monthly or annual rental. 
2008 rates: $750 a week Jan & Sept through December; $900 a week  
during February through August, and holiday weeks. 
2009 rates: $800 a week Jan & Sept through December; $950 a week  
during February through August, and holiday weeks. 
Holiday weeks are Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years

Weekly rental is Saturday to Saturday. If someone is checking "in"  
at 2:00pm that Saturday, it is shown as red (or colored in) on the  
calendar. The rental still goes through to the following Saturday at  
10:00am. A few folks have been confused about this. 
 
Rates do not include cleaning fee of $75.00 nor the 12% Florida  
occupancy tax. Event fee for weddings of $500.00 additional. 
 
On rare occasions when I email back to folks, it will not go  
through. If you include your phone number, I will call you if this  
occurs. 
 
Security deposit of $250.00 per week required with booking. Full  
refund if cancellation occurs 60 days from start of booking.
