Ocean View Condo Steps From Beach and Village! in St Simon's Island

This is a little piece of heaven with that balcony view of the ocean!! And those breezes are so relaxing. All accommodations were just as described and very, very comfortable. We loved the coastal decor, historic photos of the island, and reading material available. Spent most of our time walking the beach, fishing on the beach, leisurely walking the pier area, and sightseeing the whole island. The tour of the Old Brunswick area was fabulous also. I've traveled all over the world and this beautiful place is one I hope to return to very soon. Dressner's and SandCastle in the village were delicious for breakfast and lunch! The owners and the local agent were so kind and helpful!!

Recommended for: families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Good But Rough Around Edges

We reserved this property based on the photos in the listing. We weren't thrilled with the upkeep. I want to be fair: The condo is in reasonably good shape; much of what is said about it in the listing is accurate; and the real estate agent who handles it said--and I believe her--that we were the only people who had complained this much in several years of her handling the property. It is, as suggested, in a fabulous location--perfect walking distance to the village; beach access is right across the street, and at low tide the beach there is great. The question for renters is whether you care about getting into an immaculate condo, or are happy with a not totally spic-and-span, beach-y place. If you won't be looking behind the beds to see if it's been cleaned back there, if a missing closet door won't bother you, if some non-functioning lights here and there don't really trouble you--if the location and price are the appeal--you'll be happy here. If you want something up to maybe the upkeep standard of a typical hotel room, this isn't quite there. (The photos, we found, don't capture the actual feel of the place.) In any event the owners were reasonable in dealing with our desire to leave early (working through the agent), so no hard feelings there. Again--we are apparently a lot more picky than many of the other guests of the place, who stayed there without a problem. (There was a guest register in their guest book from a week before, with a nice note.) It may be that the owners have already addressed some of these issues. And the island is magnificent. It just depends on your priorities.
