Maya area.  It is just six miles south of the village of Mahahual,   
Costa Maya’s newest stop for cruise ships and best kept secret, where  
you can explore beautiful shoreline, charming restaurants and gift  
shops.    
 
The best house in the area, Sombra de la Luna offers all the comforts  
you need for a perfect getaway.  Wake each morning to breathtaking  
sunrises.  Enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves lapping the shore.   
Lounge in a hammock on the beach patio while sipping your cool  
tropical beverage.  Unwind and savor the tropical breeze,  swaying  
coconut palms and the turquoise Caribbean.  Paradise!!

Vacation Rental Amenities

This spacious, comfortable home has 2400 square feet including 4  
bedrooms and 3 full baths. It is fully furnished and sleeps up to 7  
people. 
 
King bed w/ private bath, view of ocean, access to beach patio. 
Queen bed w/ private bath, view of ocean, access to beach patio.   
Full bed with access to hall bath.   
Single twin bed with access to hall bath and small patio.  
Large living, dining and kitchen area with full view of the ocean. 
 
Kitchen fully equipped.  
Ceiling fans throughout.  
Air conditioning available while the generator is running, for 4-8  
hours a night, depending on the season.   
Linens and towels provided.     
Television, DVD, VCR and stereo. No cable tv; bring your favorite  
movies and music. 
Gas grill. 
Patio furniture including hammocks. 
Hot water.    
Purified drinking water provided. 
Washer/dryer available, depending on the rental agreement. 
Groceries and supplies available in Mahahual. 
Pets allowed with deposit. 
Note:  Sombra de la Luna and most other accommodations in the area  
run on solar and generator power, and use collected rain water for  
household uses.

Activities and Attractions

The reef directly in front of Sombra de la Luna offers excellent  
snorkeling.  An inflatable kayak is provided for guests' use. 
 
Scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing trips and horseback riding are  
available from local businesses.  You will find wonderful restaurants  
along the beach road and in town, where you will also find plenty of  
shopping!       
 
Take a day trip to one of the several Mayan ruins in the area.  Or  
visit one of the natural cenotes and the beautiful Lake Bacalar.  The  
capital city of the state of Quintana Roo is just an hour and a half  
south.  Or if you are feeling lazy, spend a morning bird watching or  
take an afternoon siesta.   Relax, enjoy and have it all!

Vacation Rental Rates

Rates for 2006/2007 
Entire house: 
    $225 USD per night, up to 4 persons; 3 night minimum 
    $1500 USD per week, up to 4 persons  
     Each additional person $25 USD per night 
 
King bed/bath plus kitchen, dining and living rooms: 
    $180 USD per night, 1-2 persons; 3 night minimum 
    $1200 USD per week, 1-2 persons 
 
Single bedrooms with private baths: 
     King bed, 1-2 persons 
       $85 per night, 1-2 persons; 3 night minimum 
       $565 USD per week, 1-2 persons  
     Queen bed, 1-2 persons 
       $75 per night, 1-2 persons; 3 night minimum 
       $500 USD per week, 1-2 persons 
 
Monthly rates given upon request.  Discounts available for  
longer rentals. 
 
2006/2007 Holiday Season:   
Dec 8, 2007-Jan 7, 2008    
Entire house: 
    $250.00 USD per night, up to 4 persons. 
     Each additional person $25 USD per night.   
King bed/bath plus kitchen, dining and living rooms: 
    $200 USD per night, 1-2 persons. 
No weekly discounts given during the holiday season. 
When booking for high season, 100% pre-pay is required.   
With cancellations up to 60 days prior, the deposit will be refunded,  
less a 25% booking fee. 
 
Reservations, deposits and payments: 
50% deposit is required to secure a reservation.   
   1)  Mail a personal check, money order or traveler's check to our 
       U.S. address. 
   2)  Or wire the deposit amount electronically, bank to bank. 
   
The remaining balance is due in US dollars or Mexicon pesos, cash  
only, upon arrival. 
 
Cancellation policy: 
With cancellations up to 30 days prior, the deposit will be refunded,  
less a 20% booking fee.
