River Retreat, Stoney Brook Farm in South Paris

On the river, near the lake, River Retreat offers a diminutive New
England farmhouse, lovingly restored. The house is located one hour
north west of Portland, 25 minutes south of Bethel at the confluence
of Stony Brook and the Little Androscoggin River. It’s a handy walk
to downtown South Paris with plenty of green space out back for
enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. The farmhouse embodies all
the charm of old New England with shiny hardwood floors and pretty,
period tin ceilings. The kitchen is newly outfitted including
microwave, coffee maker, and dishwasher. One downstairs bedroom and
two loft spaces sleep six comfortably.

This is the best of both worlds, with quiet green space out back but
easy access to shops & movies. Walk out the back door and explore
views to Stony Brook or put on your climbing legs and go up the rise
to the Little Androscoggin overlook. Keep an eye out for the great
blue heron soaring home at dusk. Kayaks and canoes can be enjoyed
right out back on the river. A five minute drive takes you to Lake
Pennesseewassee beach and boat launch.
