vacation rental description

Nestled in the foothills of Yosemite, this unique and well-appointed
Yosemite vacation home awaits you and your family. The Tree House at
Wild Oak Farm is an exceptional rustic retreat, centrally located for
enjoying Yosemite National Park, the Merced River Canyon, and all the
charms of Mariposa and the surrounding forty-niner country.

When you arrive at Wild Oak Farm you'll leave the hustle and bustle of
your daily life behind. The 700-foot long driveway leads you to the
Tree House which is perched in the center of the 30 acre property.
Enter the doorway under the house and ascend the spiral staircase into
your vacation retreat. You won't be disapointed. The Tree House
exemplifies rustic elegance; from the massive granite fireplace and
incense-cedar tree that are the centerpoints of the entire house, to
the well-appointed bedrooms and gourmet kitchen.

The Tree House is a three bedroom, two bath house perfect for families
and friends looking for the unique vacation home with lots of special
touches. Each bedroom has views to the majestic oaks that grace the
property. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed and a sliding
door that leads directly to the wraparound deck. The Loft Room has an
olympic queen sized bed on the main floor and a full sized bed in the
sleeping loft (the kids will love the Loft Room). The Triangle Room has a
queen-sized bed, and local Yosemite art. The Tree House comfortably
accomodates six adults and can accomodate more in the loft and the sleeper
couch in the family room. The Tree House is well-equipped for young children, with a pack and play, high chair, stroller, toys and extensive baby-proofing. This thoughtfully decorated, unique house will delight your family and friends with its impressive Tree House design.

You can't beat this home's access to the wilderness of Yosemite and proximity
to the antique stores in Mariposa. The house is wrapped by a wooden deck that provides views into thesurrounding mountains. You can access the deck via the french-doors in the kitchen. The hammock on the back deck is a shady retreat in the
summertime.

Location
The house is in the quaint mountain community of Midpines, close to
Highway 140. The Tree House is tucked into the center of the thirty
private acres that make up Wild Oak Farm. Located at 2,800 feet in
elevation, Wild Oak Farm gets occasional snow in the winter and offers
great hills for sledding!

Midpines makes an ideal base for outdoor recreation. A short walk (or
bike, or drive, or ride) up the road by the farm brings you to
the Sierra National Forest Boundary. Much of the surrounding area
is Sierra National Forest or BLM land, laced with hiking trails and
Forest Service roads. The Merced River is 10 minutes away and provides
rafting (in the spring), swimming (from late Spring until Winter
rains), fishing (pretty much all year round), wild life, hiking,
camping, solitude. Once you pull into the Tree House there are no
crowds, no traffic -- yet the restaurants, shops and historic streets
of Mariposa are only ten miles to the West, and Yosemite Valley lies a
mere twenty-five miles to the East.

traveler reviews for this yosemite house rental

A very special place

Jim, Suzanne and three teenagers (High Wycombe, Bucks, UK)
Review submitted: July 31, 2010   Date of arrival: July 5, 2010

We were really excited at the prospect of staying at the Tree House, and we were certainly not disappointed. The house is beautiful, in an amazingly peaceful and lovely setting. It really is unique, yet really homely and very well equipped with such a friendly feel to it. The information about hikes and swimming holes is great, and we spent a very happy couple of days on the Merced, as well as visiting Yosemite. The local amenities in Midpines are just what one would need - the Pioneer market is large, and the hardware store very friendly. The only disappointment? Our teenage son and friend did not find any rattlesnakes! This did not disappoint the rest of us! We will definitely return. Thank you so much.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

The Tree House was a wonderful spot for our large group. The setting is as secluded and beautiful as advertised. The house was clean, modern, and comfortable. Most of the house's square footage is communal living space, so it was easy to cook and serve large meals and to spend time together as a group. The hot tub and fireplace were my group's favorite amenities. The hot tub sits about 10 yards from the house, so although one must walk up a gravel path to reach it, the reward is an uninterrupted view of the sky and surrounding foothills. The house is beautiful, so if you were to spend all of your time hanging out there and on the surrounding grounds, you would not be disappointed. With a 15 minute drive, you can reach the amazing Merced River canyon, which has numerous hiking options as you make your way toward the Yosemite entrance. Speaking of Yosemite, we visited in the late winter / early spring, which is a great time to visit the park. Snow is mostly confined to the higher elevations (above the valley floor), the waterfalls have good flow, and the crowds are non-existent. Overall, the Tree House and its setting are highly recommended!
