amenities, the apartment is located in the historical center of
Cortona,minutes away from Piazza della Repubblica,Teatro Signorelli,
cafes, Museums and many wonderful restaurants. The apartment has a
Roman well in the living room, and an impressively large fireplace in
the kitchen. The first floor of the house includes: kitchen, den,
living room and one full bath. The second floor, comprises two
bedrooms, one full bath, foyer and a walk-in closet and a linen
closet. In the foyer on the second floor there is a second fire
place. The Roman well, the impressively huge fireplace, the original
terra cotta floor and wooden beams of the ceiling, give the apartment
a historical charm all of its own.
The picturesque town of Cortona, subject of Frances Mayes' book,
"Under The Tuscan Sun", boasts of being one of the most beautiful,
with its winding cobble-stone streets, and one of the regions most
friendly. Cortona is 1 hour's drive from Florence, 1 1/2 hours from
Rome, 30 minutes from Perugia and Assisi, and 45 minutes away from
Orvieto. Cortona's Teatro Signorelli, its Etruscan Museum, and the
historic Lake Trasimeno nearby, the newly built amphitheater and
swimming pool, are places not to be missed. Views of Lake Trasimeno
and of the surrounding valley can be enjoyed from Piazza Garibaldi,
and from the beautiful Parterre Gardens, all a few minutes walk away
from the apartment. Within a short walk you can also enjoy the new
built amphitheater and swimming pool in Cortona, from which you can
also enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and of Lake
Trasimeno. These are just some of the special features that make
vacationing in Cortona a truly unique experience.

Two bedrooms (sleeps 4), living room, den, newly renovated eat-in
kitchen, refrigerator, toaster, microwave oven, gas stove, TV/VCR set,
stereo; two fully renovated bathrooms one on each floor, one with
shower, one with bath); washing machine, dryer. The apartment provides
for sheets and towels, and all necessities for a comfortable vacation.
Personal cleaning services are available upon request for an extra fee.
In the summer Cortona hosts the famous Umbria Jazz festival, and
countless other musical, artistic and folkloric activities. In the
summer one can also enjoy the outdoor movies in the Parterre Park or
the open-air opera by Teatro Signorelli. Or, one can simply choose to
spend the day at the swimming pool. In August one can participate in
the famous "Sagra della Bistecca," an outdoor festival in honor of
beef steak. But food is not Cortona's only attraction. In September,
Cortona boasts of the famous "Mostra dell'Antiquariato" or, "Antique
Fair." This little Etruscan city was the birth place of many famous
artists, such as Luca Signorelli and Gino Severini. Today Cortona
boasts of two wonderful museums: Museo Diocesano and Museo
dell'Accademia Etrusca. One can either visit these museums or visit
several of the Art Galleries that exhibit paintings of both local
artists as well as foreign ones. For those who prefer more
country-style activities, there is the El Comanchero Ranch, where one
can either take horse-back riding lessons or can join their horse-back
riding daily excursions through the mountains surrounding Cortona. At
El Comanchero one can also enjoy a delicious cortonese meal in their
American Western-style restaurant, overlooking the Val di Chiana
