The Friendship/Waldoboro peninsula is situated in mid-coast Maine, 15 miles south of Rockland, and 66 miles northeast of Portland. You have found it all: A restful vacation home on the coast of Maine with a touch of luxury. This expansive (4500 square foot) year-round oceanfront guest house has sweeping views of Muscongus Bay and the islands, a private pier, and large decks. Excellent kayaking!! There is a deep-water mooring in front, just off the pier, for your sailboat.
Long a way of life in the region, fishing remains an important part of recreation in the area. Anglers seek striped bass along eelgrass-covered, shallow coves and in estuarine rivers. Bluefish are targeted around the islands and shoals, while Atlantic Mackerel are sought in harbored areas and open water. Past guests have caught Mackerel, Pollock and Striped Bass from the pier.
The house boasts six spacious bedrooms and 4 baths, so there is plenty of privacy. The first floor master bedroom has panoramic views of the sea, queen size bed, large closets, and a sitting area. A Second bedroom has a double bed and windows overlooking the pine forests. There is a full bath, fully equipped kitchen, large glass- fronted living room with wood burning stove, a separate study and another half-bath off the kitchen.
On the lower level, French doors lead out to the lawn and pier. There are two bedrooms with views of the sea (1 full-sized bed, 1 queen). A third bedroom with two twin-sized beds has views of the forest. There is a full bath, a large den with couches and wing back chairs for watching TV or movies from our library, reading, and playing board games.
In addition to the main house, a private luxury master suite consisting of a second master bedroom, cozy living area with a stone fireplace is upstairs over the garage. The living area opens onto a private balcony facing the ocean. It has a queen size bed, full bath with steam shower and restful Jacuzzi tub. Enjoy a cocktail from the wet bar, and converse in cozy couches and down chairs in front of the stone fireplace with a blazing fire.
Kayak out to the islands, collect mussels and periwinkles from the beach, Dig for clams at low tide, or read a novel (or write one) on the spacious deck. You'll wake to the sound of the local lobster men who dot the harbour every morning. Row out to buy lobster fresh from the local lobster men and women. There is a deep lobster pot in the cupboard for you to steam them up in. At sunset, enjoy cocktails on the pier while you watch the sailboats head for their moorings.
Please note, this is a no smoking, 7 person maximum house. Small pet, please inquire. Separate non-refundable pet deposit will apply.
