vacation rental description
Pristine Alamoosook Lake in the little town of Orland (sssh, it's one
of Maine's best kept secrets). Serenity, peace, and tranquility await
you. Awaken with the sun to the sound of the loons. Enjoy a cup of
coffee on the deck of our luxurious home. Look for the eagles who
make this lake their home and appreciate the splendor of nature, pure
and unadulterated, on a leisurely canoe ride. Refresh yourself with a
swim in the surprisingly warm, crisp, clean water. Top off your day
with an evening barbeque and a night under the stars. This is the
ideal vacation retreat for anyone looking to return to nature and
emerge renewed and refreshed. Everyone's paradise, you can relax and
read or write, draw or paint, or venture out and explore. Easily
accessible, we're minutes from the Route 1 corridor, the gateway to
many Maine attractions, and Bangor International Airport is just 25
miles away.

activities and attractions in Acadia Maine
The home of Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, Alamoosook Lake is
fantastic for fishing, bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, and
swimming. Hike on nearby Great Pond Mountain or venture further to
Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park (35 miles away) for endless
adventurous hiking and gorgeous sunsets overlooking Bar Harbor. Bar
Harbor's reputation for dining and shopping precedes itself. They
also have bike rentals available in the town which you can take back
up the mountain for an exhilarating, or leisurely, ride on the
carriage roads. (Don't forget to stop for popovers at Jordan Pond
when you're through!) Fantastic dining and shopping also await you in
the picturesque Camden waterfront village 50 miles away. The smaller
towns of Blue Hill, Castine, Belfast, and Ellsworth (each within 20
miles or so of Alamoosook Lake) are all jewels well worth exploring.
Please don't forget to visit the little town of Bucksport, home of
the original Fort Knox, just 5 miles away. Here you can take a look
at the stunning new Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory from its
quaint waterfront walkway. This latest modern marvel of enginering
technology opened the summer '07.
