vacation rental description
SORRY, this place won't be available for vacation rentals for some time. We have a tenant who will be staying long term.
Memorial Day through Labor Day: $225 per week, $850 per month. One week minimum, 3 months (paid in advance) maximum. No daily rates but the weekly rate isn't all that bad comparatively. Just turn in the key early.
Deposit required for reservations made more than a week in advance.
Bring your own linens or make an arrangement ahead of time and add $10 per bed to use ours. $75 Cleaning deposit required.
If you want to reserve, make sure you say so. I can no longer hold off a potential renter to wait for someone who is just inquiring. The first person to make an arrangement to send their deposit will be the person who gets the vacation rental. If you agree to send a deposit, and I don't receive it within one week, I will cancel the reservation.
This property is a well maintained 14 X 52 mobile home in a nicely
secluded but not entirely isolated area within 5 miles of Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Keep in mind that it is not a giant beach house with five or six bedrooms so the maximum occupancy will be no more than 6 people at one time, preferably 4. If more than 4 adults will be staying, extra rent will be charged.
Full kitchen with dishes, pans and silverware on site. Coffee maker. Toaster. Microwave. Dishwasher.
One bath. Shower only.
Central heat and air.
There is no phone but you MAY be able to access the internet if you ask for the code to connect to our wireless router if you bring your laptop. There are also several coffee shops and reataurants in the area where you can take your computer, including the local McDonalds.
Depending on your service provider, your cell phone signal may be weak or inoperable inside the house. This is becoming more and more of a common problem in this area as more and more towers become inoperational.
There is one furnished bedroom with a queen size bed. A small bedroom has a futon with an extra mattress that can be removed and laid on the floor. There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. A cot is available if there are older kids who don't sleep in the same bed. It is not practical for more than 6 people to try to stay here.
Daytime visitors are fine but please don't try to sneak in a bunch of extra people because everyone will be asked to leave.
At present, there is no washer or dryer. You must bring your own linens and beach chairs. If you want your cleaning deposit back, you must leave the place reasonably clean. For example: vacuum, wipe down the counters, take out your trash, separate out the recyclables, take any food that might spoil out of the refrigerator, etc. There are cleaning tools-- vacuum, broom, mop, rags, and cleaning solutions provided.
Our pet policy is stated along with the rental terms but if you have a potentially destructive pet, you will be required to either bring your own pet carrier and put your pet inside it while you are out or else use one of ours. There is a non-refundable pet deposit that is dependent upon the length of your stay. Pets under 20 lbs only but we sometimes consider larger dogs if they aren't dangerous breeds.
This is a non-smoking unit. If you smoke, do it outside and pick up your debris.
cabin rental amenities
If you love the country and the beach, come stay with us. This particular property is located approximately 4 miles from Emerald Isle, 6 miles from Swansboro, and 12 miles from Morehead City, NC.
NOTE: we are not ON the beach nor do we profess to be on the beach. We are 4 miles from the nicest public beach access with bath houses, picnic shelters, etc. in the area. In winter months, you may find low rates at hotels. In summer, our place rents for a week for about the same as it would cost you to stay on the beach for less than 2 days. Please check hotels on the beach before you make a reservation because we won't refund your money simply because you arrive and discover that you could have stayed on the beach for less than you expected.
Dishes, utensils and pans are furnished.
CELL PHONES: Let me emphasize that some people with cell phones have complained that their cell phones don't work well inside the house. Most will work fine outside or near the windows or doors. Please carefully consider how important incoming calls are for you when you make your decision whether or not to rent from us.
The home has television connected to a digital receiver box. There is an antenna attached to the house adjusted to pick up local stations (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS) as well as some not so local stations. Reception seems to be good to excellent. Cable is not available out here and it would not be cost effective for us to put in satellite.
Walgreen's, Blockbuster Video and Lowe's Grocery and several fast food restaurants are a few miles west in Cape Carteret, Cedar point and Swansboro . Wal Mart and dozens of other shopping facilities and restaurants are 12 miles east in Morehead City or 20 miles west in Jacksonville.
There are numerous doctors, hospital and emergency medical facilities within 25 miles in either direction-- Jacksonville and Morehead City.
Dominos Pizza and China Garden deliver from Cedar Point. Gas stations and convenience stores are located at intervals all along Hwy 24 in either direction.
Tournament fishermen or boaters will have plenty of room to park
their boat trailer here. However, all vehicles must be parked only in the front yard. No vehicle of any description may ever be driven or parked in the back yard.
Campers tired of staying in a camping trailer or a tent have a safe place with
room to park their trailers and more space to relax and even set up a tent to dry it out if needed--assuming we aren't in a rainy season. For families who vacation together, one family could potentially rent our trailer and a family with a camper could park in the yard instead of a park for a nominal fee. Ask for rates. Look at the photo to get an idea how large the yard actually is. The back yard is larger than the front. This would be an ideal location for an outdoor family reunion and there is a place nearby where you can rent tables, chairs, tents, even a cooker.
Camp LeJeune and Cherry Point are close by, making this a convenient temporary rental for newly transferred military men and women as well as families visiting their service men and women. We honor and respect our military as well as their families and we are proud to have you stay with us.
People wintering near the coast who wish to sample the area will find this to
be a very convenient location. Check our low rates from Mid September to Mid March.
On the off season, sometimes entire months are available on a first to ask first served basis. When you consider a furnished place with utilities, our monthly rate is exceptional. Check our calendar to see if the entire time you are seeking is available.
Fall and spring are wonderful times to come to this area so people
who like to vacation during those times would find it a satisfying experience as well. Check for low fall and winter vacation rates.
Everyone who has stayed so far has enjoyed the peace and quiet coupled with the proximity to the various amenities in this county famous for family fun.
activities and attractions in Emerald Isle Atlantic Coast
Bogue Banks is a 26 mile island with the town of Emerald Isle on the
west end and the town of Atlantic Beach on the east end with bridges to the mainland near each end. Salter Path, Indian Beach and Pine Knoll Shores are also towns on the island. Swansboro, Cedar Point, Cape Carteret, Morehead
City, Beaufort, Newport, Havelock and Jacksonville are nearby towns on the mainland. As mentioned, the location is convenient to Camp LeJeune and Cherry Point.
Some of the nicest public beach access is also some of the closest. However, there are at least a dozen public beach accesses with parking and facilities available up and down the island as well as on the mainland. Most are absolutely free and some have spillover parking for a fee nearby. Check the real parking lot first, though, before you pay when you don't need to.
Miniature golf , 18-hole golf courses, go carts, bumper boats, water slide, kayak rentals, fishing charters, fishing piers, surf fishing (with a fishing license) are all close by. There are also plenty of annual festivals and events to attend throughout the year in the towns and villages nearby. Some activities go on year round since the climate is mild here in winter. In addition, there is a movie theatre in Emerald Isle and a very nice bowling alley and arcade at Mac Daddy's in Cape Carteret.
Historical places include guided tours through Beaufort, the Maritime
Museum, the History Museum, Fort Macon, and much more. The Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is well worth a visit.
vacation rental rates
VERY Affordable! Our lowest rates are available in the off season from the week after Labor Day until mid March. Normal in season rates, mid-May thru Labor Day week are as follows:
Holiday weekend or Weekend rentals Although we don't actually rent for less than a 6-night stay, week end rentals, arriving Friday, leaving Sunday or Monday will be $225 The rate is the same for weekly so you might as well book a week. If you are staying more than 6 nights, expect to pay for the extra nights.
Weekly rental (6 consecutive nights, leaving on the 7th day, for example. Sunday to the following Saturday, Tuesday to the following Monday, etc.) $225 . Four people only. If more than 4 people over 12 are staying figure on $10 per additonal person per night for the entire stay.
One month rental (no more than four people of any age.) You may have guests in and out for a night or two during your stay at no additional charge as long as they don't stay the entire month. $850
ALL rents are paid up front, in the exact amount, with check in and check out dates firmly established before the renter receives the key. Checkout will be 12:00 Noon and check in for the incoming renter will be 3 PM or later. If you need to check in earlier or stay later in the day due to flight schedules, etc, please ask because we can be flexible as long as someone isn't coming in right behind you.

Our Pet Policy: non-refundable pet deposit for week-end, or weekly renters is $20 per pet for the entire stay, if we agree to allow your pet. Don't just bring along pets and expect us to let them stay. Ask first.
Only adult dogs or cats that are house trained and weigh less than 20 lbs. will be allowed. All pets (including cats) must be on a leash when outside. This is for their safety, as well as the safety of other animals on the property.
Pet owners will be responsible for cleaning up after their animals. Of course, any "accidents" a pet may have inside, including vomiting, are the owner's responsibility to clean up. There is carpet cleaner under the sink. Dog feces should be picked up from the yard unless it is so far away from the house and driveway that nobody is likely to step in it. People who travel with cats must provide their own litter boxes which they must clean up and take with them when they leave. The contents of the box may be disposed of at the edge of the back woods or dumped into a trash bag and put into the trash.
Pets coming with monthly/extended stay renters will be considered with $50 per pet non-refundable deposit for the entire stay and the same rules about leashes and cleaning up apply.
ABSOLUTELY NO monkeys, snakes, iguanas or other exotic pets. Sorry no pit bulls, rottweilers, dalmations, chows or other large or potentially dangerous dogs will be allowed to stay.
If you have a pet who might chew up furniture while you are away, bring a crate and confine them while you are out or ask to use one of ours. You may not leave a pet tied outside while you are gone for any reason at any time of year. I consider that animal cruelty. You can tie your dog to the porch, where they can get in the shade while you are present if they like to be outside and you can't be with them every second, but you must take care not to let them get tangled up or trapped and you must provide water. If they are fine in the house while you are gone, they need to be inside and safe while you explore the area.

OTHER TERMS:
Effective January 1, 2010, vacationers will be required to bring their own linens and pay a $75 refundable cleaning deposit. However, I will consider loaning linens to repeat vacationers who have established a history of leaving things clean and I will rent linens to people at $10 per bed upon request.
In order to receive your cleaning deposit, you must leave an address to mail your deposit check and give us time to check to see that everything was left in good order if we aren't home when you check out to come see. Cleaning deposits can be paid by check and the check won't be cashed at all if the place is left reasonably clean. We aren't asking for white glove inspection clean but I don't want food tracked into the carpet, sticky counters, a sink full of dishes, a fridge full of restaurant containers, etc.
Sorry, no credit or debit cards. We can accept Pay Pal on line with a 10% additional charge if you pay several days in advance of your stay. Cash payment from short notice guests expected upon arrival and you will need to phone shortly before you arrive to get instructions about where to get the key. If you reserve more than 2 weeks ahead, a deposit of up to half the total may be required. If you ask to reserve for more than a week in summer, please be prepared to pay 1/2 of the total bill to secure the reservation with the remainder due upon arrival.
Notice to fall and winter vacationers: check out the hotel prices on the beach BEFORE you make a reservation with us. Don't ask me to get our place ready for you, check you in, then decide to stay somewhere else. We are not on the beach and we don't claim to be. Our rates will always be lower but it is no secret that hotel rates on the island are notoriously lower in winter than in summer and hotel rooms are more likely to be available. However, I guarantee you cannot rent a comparable space anywhere on the beach for less money. This is a small residence, not a hotel room.
Advance deposits, other than for cleaning, should be considered non-refundable but we are not unreasonable -- some circumstances are unavoidable. For example, in the event that you pay for a vacation and a hurricane is predicted to hit here, we will alert you promptly and send your refund as soon as we can safely get to the post office. In the event that the emergency is on your end, the sooner you notify us, the more likely you will be to get a full refund because the more likely it will be that we have time to rent to someone else. With last minute cancellations, some or all of the deposit may not be refunded for any reason other than a problem on our end serious enough to render the place unrentable.
Same day or short notice is OK with cash payment upon arrival if the unit is available. Check the calendar. Although we prefer on line reservations and arrangements, if you need to call, please be courteous enough to do it between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM. Due to a history of late night callers having been no-shows, inquiries by phone between 10 PM and 6 AM will automatically be turned down.
Call to get specific directions and instructions about picking up the key as your date to arrive approaches. You may be asked for an estimated time of arrival in case we have plans that we need to work around. We do understand that sometimes things happen to cause delays in vacationers' plans. Only pre-paid in full reservations will be guaranteed for more than 12 hours past your estimated time of arrival. Although we can't sit home all day waiting for people who are going to arrive later than expected, we can easily and happily make an alternate plans for guests who communicate with us to obtain keys. Make sure you bring our phone number along in case you are delayed.
We strongly prefer that reservations be made on line, but we will take reservations over the phone. Please be considerate and call between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM. Please don't expect me to call you to make arrangements with you unless it is to return a message on our answering machine because we were out when you tried to contact us. If you inquire by e-mail, I normally reply via e-mail within 12 hours of the time I receive your message but we have discovered that Vacationrentals.com doesn't always relay the messages immediately. Please check your junk mail box if you don't receive our reply within 12 hours because we reply to all inquiries, even if we don't have a vacancy. I generally post every reservation I receive, even reservations awaiting the payment of deposit, within minutes so our calendar is your best source for determining vacancies.
You have our word that we will do everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We appreciate your business and hope to establish even more repeat business than we already have.
