Vacation Rental Description

This is a a private 4000 sq. ft. home on two wooded acres with 120  
feet of lakefront at the Fontana end of Lake Geneva.  It is available  
to renters during June, July, and August, 2008 for two to four-week  
periods and during the 2007 Christmas/New Year's holiday for a one to  
two-week period.  
 
The home was styled after William Wordsworth's home in the Lake  
Country of England.  It has been in the family since it was built in  
1905. The interior is Midwest Prairie architecture with beamed  
ceilings spanning the Great Room and spacious dining room which both  
overlook the lake.  The dining room with fireplace will seat  
14 people. The Great Room will entertain the same size group with two  
sitting areas, a large fireplace, and HDTV home theatre.  Adjoining  
the Great Room is an outdoor porch filled with comfortable wicker  
furniture, including a porch swing and dining table.  The porch  
overlooks the well-maintained front gardens and lawn and affords  
stunning views of the lake. A long private pier has a covered boat  
lift and a separate boat launch dock or picnic staging area.  A  
large, private swim raft and buoy for an additional boat complement  
the pier. 
 
The grounds are wooded except for the front and side lawns. A  
charming sunken garden, defined by field stone walls, perennials, and  
a three-tiered fountain, adorns the long driveway from North Lake  
Shore Drive to the house.

Vacation Rental Amenities

The house has a large, fully appointed kitchen with modern  
appliances, a double oven, microwave oven, 28 cu. ft. side-by-side  
refrigerator/freezer, plus breakfast table in a sitting area with  
easy chairs, oversized desk, cable TV, and Franklin fireplace.  There  
is a butler's pantry with wet bar, utility room with washer and  
dryer, powder room off the kitchen, and new outdoor multi-burner gas  
grill.  The house is air conditioned, but windows can be opened for  
fresh air. 
 
The upstairs has six bedrooms that sleep 14, including one with  
double bunk beds, which the kids love, and three stylish full baths.   
Three bedrooms face the lake, one with a king and two with queen size  
beds.  The other three bedrooms have either twins, a double bed, or  
the double bunk beds.  Fresh linens and towels are supplied on a  
weekly basis, and supplemental maid service can be arranged.  
 
The upstairs hallway is an open sitting area with large screen cable  
TV, DVD, VCR and handsome fireplace.  This space contains a desk area  
with computer, high speed internet and wireless connection for the  
entire house.

Activities and Attractions

Your family will probably spend summer days on the pier with kids on  
the raft, boating, or relaxing on the porch.  In-house dinners and  
child care can be arranged.  The Fontana waterfront is only a 10- 
minute walk along the lake shore path for sandwich lunches, casual  
dining, watersport rentals, public boat launch and beach. Your evening 
hours may be spent on the porch watching boats and night lights drift 
by. Three popular home theatre or TV sitting areas - Great Room, 
kitchen, or upstairs sitting area - are available. 
 
There are several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as wonderful  
shopping, antiquing, movie theatres, bowling, libraries, and 
restaurants.  There is also a comprehensive health club, outstanding 
sailing camp, biking trails, and a full service spa in the area.  The 
lake path is maintained by lakefront residents for the enjoyment of 
all visitors who prefer a stroll. Summer theatre and an outdoor 
concert series are offered, and a full schedule of boat excursions 
from the Riviera dock in downtown Lake Geneva... and don't overlook 
the Beloit Snapper minor league baseball games for your family and 
especially your little leaguers to watch. Fireworks over the lake 
celebrate the 4th of July.  August brings us the Wisconsin  
State Fair and weekly corn and brat festivals throughout the area. 
 
A daily train commutes to Chicago from Harvard, Illinois, which is 20  
minutes away by car.  Milwaukee is easily reached by car in less than  
an hour.  However, once up at the lake, it is easy to forget all  
about city activities, and just relax into a summer routine.

Vacation Rental Rates

A minimum of two to four-week rental periods will be available  
during June, July, and August 2008.  A one or two-week rental period  
is available during the 2007 Christmas and New Year's holiday. 
 
Rates range from $5,000 (June) to $7,000 (July, August, holidays) per  
week.
