we had the most wonderful week. The cottage is just the right size, very close to the great wine trail. Beth is one of the nicest people we ever rented from. Anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation this is the place to go. We would not hesitate to go back.

Recommended for: sight seeing, romantic getaway

Vacation Just As Advertised

After exchanging a few pleasant emails with the owner (Beth), we rented the cottage for a week in late June. We had some hesitation about trailering our boat up for the week but we were really glad that we did. The cottage has it's own dock that is walking distance from the ramp in the state park. We left the boat in the water at the cottage dock and used it all week. The area is not commercialized which makes it very pleasant. The review written by the honeymooning couple from 2009 really describes the scene well. Cozy, not cramped, DeerHead Restaraunt a half block away (we ate dinner there a couple times and cooked on the grill at the cabin for several meals), the state park is within walking distance, a General Store is 1/2 mile down the street where you can get light supplies like milk, bread, fishing hooks, ice cream, etc., and we used the cabin's outside fireplace almost every night looking out over the lake with a glass of wine. Between the boating on the lake, the wine tasting at the many local vineyards, the weather, and the people, our vacation was everything we hoped for.

Amazing cozy honeymoon

For our July honeymoon, we rented this adorable cottage on the lake. It was perfect for a newlywed couple -- it was small, but not cramped; cozy, but not stuffy. We enjoyed sitting on the dock to watch the sunrise, cooking lobster in the kitchen, floating out in the lake on the paddle boat, and walking to dinner at the Deerhead Inn.

The cottage is literally right off the Cayuga Wine Trail, making it the perfect location for our wine tastings. Grocery shopping was a little far -- we had to drive 20 minutes to Aurora, but we only had to make one trip at the beginning of our stay. The area is quiet and removed from traffic and noise, but blissfully so.

The cottage was clean and well-maintained. Beth came over our first night to make sure we had settled in, but after that, left us in marital bliss. Cleaning after our stay was simple, and the cottage being so small, cleanup took no more than an hour total.

For those of you with kids, or sense of childish adventure (my husband), the Darien Lake amusement park is just a couple of hours away!

Since our stay, we've recommended this vacation, and this particular rental to our friends, and hope to come back again soon!!
