house rental amenities
Higgins Beach just happens to be one of the best beaches in Maine.
It is a 3/4 mile white sand beach (the kind of fine sand
that "squeaks" when you walk on it) located bewteen rockbound cliffs
to the south and the Spurwink River to the north. A gentle beach
slope makes it safe for the kids while the offshore surf break makes
it a favorite of surfers. Offshore is Richmond Island, a great
destination for kayakers. A real "beach community" the Higgins
Beach
neighborhood is walkable - you don't have to get in your car to buy
local seafood at the fishmarket, fresh fruit, vegetables, meat at
the Higgins Beach Market, or pick up your sundries at the corner store.
Although, you may opt to dine at one of the award winning restaurants at the
two local hotels. The Higgins Beach Clubhouse offers Wednesday
morning breakfasts, scheduled musical entertainment, festive Fourth
of July activities, etc.
