vacation rental description

"Rife with color, almost every wall, every piece of furniture is hand-painted a different shade yet blends beautifully with each other, flowing from room to patio, roof garden to bedroom. Plants and flowers adding yet more color to this fabulously fun yet comfortable home." Quote from San Miguel House & Garden Tour, a favorite for 7 years.

For those interested in art classes, Spanish classes, cooking classes, photography classes, birding, music or a special vacation, San Miguel de Allende is a captivating place to visit and Casa Del Alma epitomizes the "San Miguel" experience. We are conveniently located in Colonia San Antonio, a quiet neighborhood 10-15 minutes EZ walking to Centro, the Mercado, the Instituto and the Jardin. We prefer this area to Centro because it is a safe and quiet neighborhood. It is an easy 30-second walk to a bakery and fresh ice cream. Five minutes to fresh produce and flowers.

This spacious 2-story corner home enjoys a sense of openness & privacy between bedroom suites. Enjoy sunrise & sunset views of the city from the roof terrace or the tree-shaded patio by the fountain. Or spend cozy evenings by one of the 3 uniquely tiled fireplaces.

Surrounded by bougainvillea, this magical art filled home combines the light and colors of San Miguel with modern comforts:  A fully equipped large gourmet kitchen, delightful & spacious living room, exquisite dining room, 2 master bedroom suites with ample closets & pillow top queen mattresses. There is Wireless Internet so you can stay connected in most areas of the house & patios yet feel like you are still on vacation.

Entering Casa del Alma brings a sense of awe. You know you have entered a uniquely special sanctuary, close to everything yet quiet. Kitchen, dining & living rooms plus bedrooms open onto lush patio gardens replete with birds, butterflies and humming birds. For entertaining, the roomy cook’s kitchen is well equipped with "pass-through’s" to the patio, Satellite Radio & iPod player.

Casa del Alma has 2 Master Suites. The downstairs Fountain Room has its own flat screen TV & DVD player, wrought iron bed-frame plus an exquisitely tiled bath where you can luxuriate in a shower of pressurized, unlimited hot water.

Connected to the upstairs Master suite is the den containing flat screen HD/TV & DVD Player with dozens of DVD’s, and hammered tin & tile fireplace plus a Queen Sofa-Bed & Boveda (arched brick) ceiling with skylight.

From the den, go through the wide hallway to the Tree House Room, Master Suite. The Queen pillow-top mattress boasts an elegant hammered tin headboard. Above find a second Boveda ceiling with a skylight where you can view the stars from your bed. Awaken to birdsong from the trees outside your window. The adjacent bathroom has a full sized tub, separate shower, Bidet & Filtered Drinking Water. The pressurized water system with unlimited hot water provides an exhilarating morning shower.  Both bedrooms have feather and non-allergenic pillows, quality linens, electric blankets, luxurious Duvets, plush towels and Designer robes to enjoy during your stay.

For cool mornings & evenings, three unique gas fireplaces with thermostats yield instant heat. To cool the rooms, five ceiling fans ventilate both bedrooms, den, living room and kitchen. There are more portable fans if desired. Screens allow windows to be open any season without fear of insects. The secure Garage has a washer & dryer and will accommodate a small car. A special bonus for your Mexican vacation is maid service by Araceli three times a week. She will clean the house, outside areas and kitchen.  As an extra service, Araceli will also wash & iron your clothes, shop for you and cook delicious meals both Mexican and American.

activities and attractions in San Miguel de Allende Central Mexico

San Miguel offers a quality of life and warmth that is missing in my California life. I prefer the pace of San Miguel, I like myself when I am there. Whether walking to dinner, shopping, or attending some cultural event there is always a sense that this a better life down
here. Many come to study Spanish, take art classes, or just to relax.

Home away from Home

Him and Hooty (Howell, Michigan)
Review submitted: April 8, 2013   Date of arrival: February 1, 2013

This is our second stay at Casa de Alma and certainly not our last. Casa de Alma makes you feel like it is your very own home. It is so well equipped in every aspect, from a paper clip to every kitchen utensil
you might somehow need. The neighborhood is so covenant. A huge market is only blocks away, bakery right around the corner as is a little mom and pop's store. It is a quick 10-15 walk to the heart of town or going in the other direction to a wal-mart like store. We ate most of our meals in the court yard patio off the kitchen as we listened to the fountain and watched the many hummingbirds at the feeder.
Many hours logged in the chaise lounge on the roof top reading and just relaxing. We'll be BACK.

Christmas and January, 2012/2013

G & A (Victoria, BC, Canada)
Review submitted: January 19, 2013   Date of arrival: December 1, 2012

We stayed at this delightful casa, firstly as a couple and then with another couple as well. The space is very comfortable for four people, with a good sized kitchen, one bedroom up and one down, and a lovely courtyard and roof-top space for sitting. The owners were very pleasant and professional in all of our dealings. The casa is well-maintained and gorgeously decorated.

We would recommend it without hesitation, with the one proviso that the home is in a neighbourhood - which means that there is noise from adjoining homes, street dogs and so on but, you definately feel that you are part of the town, rather than in a removed, gringo hotel away from it all. Christmas provided neighbourhood posadas and fireworks, which are good or bad depending on your perspective. We loved it.

The housekeeper was wonderful - pleasant, hard-working and very respectful of privacy while doing her work efficiently three days a week.

We would recommend this rental to any of our friends.

Beautiful art and wonderful outdoor spaces

danzante (california)
Review submitted: October 23, 2012   Date of arrival: July 1, 2012

We spent 2 wonderful months here. The rooms are large and comfortable, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with excellent high end appliances, knives, glassware, and many pots and pans. You really can cook all your meals there. Also having the drinking available in the sink in the kitchen and upstairs was very convenient, and saved many trips of bringing water upstairs. We loved all the art everywhere. In pictures it may look like too much, but in person its absolutely wonderful. The outdoor spaces are much larger than in most other houses in SMA (especially in this price range). The climate is so wonderful that we ate every single meal outside. The garden is so beautiful. We could sit and watch the hummingbirds and listen to the fountain for hours. The owner Stan is very reasonable and helpful to work with, as is Araceli, the house keeper. Araceli also does child care, if needed. The only caveat about the house is that the 2 bedrooms are very separate from each other, which our young daughter didn't like. She ended up mostly sleeping in the den next to the master bed, which eliminated our privacy, and ability to watch movies in the den. But it was fabulous for having guests, who could have complete privacy in the 2nd bedroom/bath. The price was very reasonable in comparison to other properties we looked at. We liked the location in a real neighborhood, with lots of little mom and pop stores. Its also very close to the language school, Josefina's school on Orizaba st. You can easily catch buses and taxis on Calle Canal, a 2 block walk away. On the other hand, the restaurants aren't as good near here, except for El Rincon. Also it is a good 12-15 min walk to the main Jardin, which with a child, was daunting to do more than once a day. I would highly recommend Casa de la Alma.
