Your kindness and generosity made oour vacation one of the most memorable stays we have experienced in a long time. I can't begin to tell you how much the grandchildren loved the ocean, in fact they still talk about it and want to return next year. The family believes the protected beach is perfect for the children to have an exciting adventure yet offer a great deal of security and safety.

Your house brought us peace and joy. We loved the new floors and freshly painted walls. We took the downstairs bedroom next to the bathroom and let the kids sleep upstairs and have their own bathroom. I believe the beach goers all envied us sitting on your back porch while we watched the kids make sandcastles and play in the ocean. I suggest that if there are very young kids you bring a saftey gate for the porch stairs.

We did not fish, but others have told us that you can catch some big fish casting from the rocks.

We also took day trips to Boston and Plymouth.

Thank you for going our of your way to make our stay so pleasant.

Amazing location -- spacious, comfortable cottage!

We stayed here just before the tenants who complained in the previous review, and disagree about this place.

Dishes not washed? Sorry, not true. Any we used as prior guests were washed and left to dry. The owners or the cleaning crew would have picked up on that during their wrap-up inspection otherwise.

We're sorry if the subsequent tenants expected something different when renting this cottage. No, this isn't a Victorian inn or upscale hotel, it's a casual, comfortable beach house. And it's located on one of the most AMAZING sections of beach on the east coast! Look at the rock formations in the pictures! They hold tidal pools, can be dived off at high tide, and are fun to climb. Most importantly, when you're relaxing in the shade on the cottage's wide, wraparound porch, those rock formations provide a picturesque view that never grows old. (Compare this to the straight, boring shorelines at most locations.)

Yes, some of the furniture is old (some pieces are antiques), but the cottage is spacious and airy, and it comes with the comforts (kitchen appliances, cable TV, free wireless) that most people want. Yes, people do collect on the (pleasingly deep) beach in front of the cottage during the day, but the cottage has a front "yard" roped off that provides tenants with private space, and frankly, people-watching while sipping coffee/juice/wine on the huge/shady/breezy porch is part of the fun of this place! Plus, the locals clear out in late afternoon so there's plenty of time and space to throw frisbees or mount a ball game.

If you want a truly amazing view and a relaxed, charming atmosphere, this is a great place to consider. If you're looking for a formal setting and modern furniture, definitely go somewhere else. But good luck trying to find as beautiful a place to hang out.

Still needs some work

The view from the back porch is amazing, and the chance explore the tide pools and beaches is wonderful. Beyond this there is not a lot positive to say about the property. While the house does sleep 11 without much fuss, it is not furnished adequately.

The biggest surprise was when we arrived and found that the property is on a public beach. So for the majority of every day there were crowds of people sitting just off the back porch, as beach entrance was an alley just beyond the property. Inside almost every table/dresser/table has one short leg with blocks, bricks or rollers underneath it to make it level. The dishes/cookware in the house were dirty/greasy upon arrival. The toilets both flushed with very little force and seemed in danger of overflowing every time used. The downstairs closet was filled with odds and ends from repair/maintenance projects. The most convenient entrance into the house cannot be used after arrival (it is on deck shared with the owner's property and she will not allow use after unloading cars).

Parking was also an issue. 2 possible spaces were taken by large piles of junk and a trailer loaded with scrap metal. When asked if WE could move it to ease the cramped parking we were told no. The owner was nice enough to allow to park in a different spot, but when parked to her satisfaction the driver's side door could be opened less than a foot.

There are several restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute drive from the property. The best that we experienced with about an hour away in Boston, in particular "The Barking Crab" a block away from the New England Aquarium. Our top attraction in the area was deep sea fishing with Captain Rich of Black Rose Fishing Charters, out of Green Harbor in Marshfield, approximately 30 minutes south of the property.

If I were to travel to the area again I would not rent this property, and I would never recommend it to a friend. While I have hotels/motels that were much worse, I expect something more from rental properties. This was not it. Spend a little extra money and rent a property with a little more to give.
