WohlfarthPhone: 212-666-1600 x 10 / 1866-666-1610 Vacation Rental DescriptionThe post-modern shingle style 4100 square foot house was beautifully and thoroughly expanded in 2000. The house was completely rethought by Joseph Waltman, who I consider the Robert A. Stern of the Maine coast. The many architectural details include: intricate wainscotting, raised panels, crown moldings, French doors, transoms, oak wood floors throughout, and custom cherry cabinetry. The house is within 50 feet of the shoreline on all three sides, and has been sited so that every room has direct water views! The interior has been carefully furnished with personally chosen antiques, including oriental rugs, and original Maine art. The custom kitchen has cherry cabinets and ceramic tile floors. It is fully equipped with a Viking professional six-burner cooktop, Thermador double ovens with microwave, two Kitchenaide dishwashers, Cuisinart, mixer, and an ice maker in the refrigerator. The house has a reading library, and is furnished with two telephone lines, fax machine, laser printer and photocopier; Maytag-Neptune washer and dryer; deck furniture, gas B-B-Q, satellite TV, and a computer. A formal entrance way provides access to a 28' by 16' Living Room facing the water, with direct access to the wraparound deck through three sets of French doors, and a staircase to the back gardens and deepwater channel. The Living Room also has a wood burning fireplace. Off the Family Room through the French doors, is a 16' by 14' formal Dining Room with seven windows, also directly facing the water. Along the front of the first floor is the 28' by 14' Family Room, and to the West, the 18' by 16' custom kitchen described above with its adjoining laundry room and full bath, again all facing the water. A foyer/mud room provides access to a two-car garage. Off the Living Room to the East and South is a 20' by 16' Master Bedroom with full bath. The Living Room and the Master Bedroom both have access to an 83' by 11' deck which runs along the south and west sides of the house. Directly behind the Living Room is a large screened porch for waterfront dining and boat watching. Upstairs there are three-four large bedrooms and two guest baths. One of the bedrooms has an adjoining sitting room, which can be used as a fifth bedroom. The property also has a dock for tieing up your boat or swimming. Vacation Rental AmenitiesFull Kitchen with Microwave, Dishwasher, Refrigerator, Ice Maker, Cooking utensils and Linens provided, Washer, Dryer, Reading library, furnished with two telephone lines, Dell computer and printer, fax machine, laser printer and photocopier; Maytag-Neptune washer and dryer; deck furniture, gas B-B-Q, satellite TV, VCR, Stereo, CD Player and a two-car garage. 50" flat plasma tv in den. Activities and AttractionsThe house is located on Sebascodegan Island in Casco Bay on the coast of Maine. The property is situated on a totally private, secluded peninsula within the Cundys Point Association on 5+ acres, with 2000 feet of shoreline. The house is within 50 feet of the water on all three sides. To the West are open views of Quahog and Casco bays, Big Hen, Birch Island, and Yarmouth Island. To the East is Ridley Cove and the picturesque fishing village of Cundys Harbor. The sunrises and sunsets from this location are magnificent. There are several paths from the house through the extensive natural landscaping. You can get to various perennial beds and cutting, vegetable, and herb gardens which add charm and color all year long. The gardens extend to the sea banks; they are professionally kept and contain peonies, old fashioned beach roses, lilacs, asiatic lilies, dahlias, blueberries, wildflowers, lupines, rhododendrons, bayberry, hydrangias and foxglove. Along the banks you can walk to a spot on the beach which is very private and invites swimming, and fishing at low and high tides. Long walks and beachcombing are also very pleasant. A canoe is provided for exploring the coves and bays. From the house you can easily walk from the point (10 minutes) along the ocean to the Snack Bar for fried clams and other local seafood (according to USA Today, they have "The Best Lobster Roll on the Coast of Maine"). Also within walking distance are town, Hawks Lobster Pound for fresh lobster, clams, local smoked salmon, and fish, flowers and The Block and Tackle Restaurant for great Maine blueberry pancakes. Further afield, Bowdoin College and Brunswick are eight miles away (providing Maine State Summer Theater and concerts). The outlet stores at Freeport and L.L. Bean are about 20 miles away. Both Portland and Boothbay Harbor (where a short ferry ride to Monhegan Island provides access to the famous artists colony and hiking trails with spectacular views) are within a 45 minute drive. Vacation Rental RatesThe house is available year-round. The rental fee varies depending on the time of year*: · July and August the rental fee is $6,500* per week. · Any other time the rental fee is $6,000* per week * Plus 7% Maine Sales Tax
