The Bungalow sits on 10+ acres of land and is on a private, largely
undeveloped Adirondack Lake called Silver Lake, which is directly
across State Route 3 from Cranberry Lake, in the southern part of St.
Lawrence County. The land includes 340+ feet of frontage on the lake.
The lake is approximately 1 mile long and about 3/8 of a mile wide.
The cabin is about a 1-2 minute hike through the woods to the lake -
it is not right on the water. Many families with small children will
find this separation from the water attractive for obvious reasons.
The cabin itself includes 3 bedrooms, and each bedroom includes its
own private bathroom, with a sink, shower and stool. There is also a
small room near the master bedroom with a futon in it. The kitchen was
completely gutted and renovated in 2004, and includes a new electric
stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster,
and a variety of small appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with
pots and pans, utensils, etc. There is a phone in the cabin for
emergency purposes. The cabin is insulated and winterized, and
can be used year-round.

house rental amenities

Summer amenities include a row boat and a canoe and a private dock.
There are no motorboats or skidoos allowed on our lake - it is a
paddle-only lake, which makes things quieter and cleaner. There is a
screened-in front porch, open porches on both ends of the cabin, and a
new deck on the rear of the cabin with a screen room. There
is a CD/tape/AM/FM stereo system, a color TV set (there is no TV
reception in the area), a DVD/VHS player, a 500-book lending
library, a large number of reference materials including maps and
trail guides, a large side yard with a badminton net, fire pit,
Adirondack chairs, two charcoal grills and a picnic table.
Winter amenities include a plowed driveway that allows easy access
from the highway, and ready availability of hundreds of miles of
snowmobile trails and thousands of acres of forest for hunting or
cross-country skiing.

activities and attractions in Cranberry Lake Adirondacks

The area around the cabin is quite forested and full of wildlife,
including deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, woodchucks, squirrels and
chipmunks etc. Occasionally a black bear appears - we've seen two in
the 20 years we have owned the place.
There are many birds in the vicinity, including hawks and eagles,
partridge and grouse. Summer brings thousands of hummingbirds to the
Cranberry Lake area. The lake is full of fish, including brook trout,
large and small mouth bass, rock bass, yellow perch and brown
bullhead. Silver Lake is private, and not open to the public, and
consequently it is seldom fished in - there are lots of fish in it.
The lake also contains many turtles, river otters, beaver, frogs etc.
There is a hiking trail around the lake.
The village of Cranberry Lake is a five minute walk away, and includes
several restaurants, a convenience store, an ice cream stand, a gas
station, gift shops, a very nice public beach, boat rentals etc. We
are about 1.5 hours away from the spectacular Adirondack Museum in
Blue Mountain Lake, and about an hour away from the tourist areas of
Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The new Wild Center Natural History
Museum of the Adirondacks is in Tupper Lake, about 23 miles away.
With screened or open porches on all four sides of the building and an
isolated dock and private waterfront only a minute or two away, the
Bungalow is a great place to go to just relax and unwind! It is
generally quiet and moderately isolated, but close enough to
civilization to be convenient to necessities. It is a great place to
take little kids, and the majority of our guests are either families
with small children or older folks who just want to vegetate for a
little while! We are pet-friendly and encourage you to bring your
non-human family members.
In winter the Bungalow is only a minute or two from hundreds of miles
of snowmobile trails, cross-country skiing or hunting.
